Re: If Lennox Lewis Came Out Of Retirement......
Togo is still Lineal Super Bantamweight Champion.
Estrada is the Lineal Super Flyweight Champion.
Canelo is the Lineal Middleweight champion.
Gvozdyk is the Lineal LHW champion.
Usyk is still the Lineal CW champion.
Fury and his team only mention Lineal because he doesn’t hold any physical belts.
Remember before the Ring title was stripped from him (an actual belt).. he kept mentioning that. And Ring even said it would be the first time ever they have separated the Ring belt from the Lineal.

Lewis wouldnt be lineal,we need to put lineal in its grave its too old. WBC WBA IBF WBO and thats too many we dont need IBO IBU WBU WBF LINEAL RING or any other parasite belt or other name for a former champion/champion

Ok , did'nt want to show my lack of knoledge , , but i've got to ask , because i don't know ,,, What the hell is a lineal champion You win the belt your the champion , you lose it , retire or get stripped , your no longer the champion , quite simple far has i see things
Re: If Lennox Lewis Came Out Of Retirement......
The guy who beat the guy etc, all the way back to the beginning. So take John L. Sullivan and track the 'lineage' to current days. You won't be able to really do it as there are too many alphabet orgs. There was only one (NBA/WBA) from 1921 - 1963 (?) and then there were two (WBA/WBC) until the 80's. So it's tough to really decipher if not damn near impossible.coneye wrote: ↑02 May 2019, 21:22 Ok , did'nt want to show my lack of knoledge , , but i've got to ask , because i don't know ,,, What the hell is a lineal champion You win the belt your the champion , you lose it , retire or get stripped , your no longer the champion , quite simple far has i see things

It was a fancy phrase to track champions years later when there was only one. Honestly not sure when it actually started. Now it's just a pompous way for some hardcore fans to show how truly hardcore they are. It's just opinion, Crawford, Taylor, usyk and Hopkins are the only fighters in ages that fit the bill. Tyson, Douglas and holy. It's kind of like when someone overrates a straw like Lopez calling him a top 5 all-time Mexican just to prove they pay attention to the little guys.coneye wrote: ↑02 May 2019, 21:22 Ok , did'nt want to show my lack of knoledge , , but i've got to ask , because i don't know ,,, What the hell is a lineal champion You win the belt your the champion , you lose it , retire or get stripped , your no longer the champion , quite simple far has i see things

Props to everyone calling it lineal, even though it's pointless it drives me nuts when someone on their high horse calls it linear.

Isn't it just a bit of a fightback against the farce of having several "world" champions when by its very defintion - a champion of the world should be exactly that - THE one guy who is considered the world's best, the world's champion.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑02 May 2019, 22:20 It was a fancy phrase to track champions years later when there was only one. It is an attempt to provide clarity to who is "The Man" as in the days of one champion, he had to be the guy through beating the previous guy who beat the previous guy yadda yadda. How it was in those days are the only way it should be and promoters can spin it all they want - there should be one champion full stop.
If there was one champion, there would be less opportunities to fight for titles and so guys would have to legit earn their shots. Contenders would fight contenders to be the next guy in line, so no one loses out. Sure three quarters of the people who can call themselves a "world" champion would never have that tag, but then it would be the preserve of actual world's best fighters.
Re: If Lennox Lewis Came Out Of Retirement......
The idea of a lineal champ is perfectly fine, however, when people say it dates back to John L Sullivan they are being somewhat disingenuous.
There are too many breaks in the chain where people retired whilst holding the title (Marciano, Lewis, etc... ).
For this reason some generations don't have a Man to beat, per se.
Wlad, (prime example) had to beat a load of other top guys to be considered lineal champ.
So when Fury beat him he became lineal because he beat the man, but he didn't beat the man, who beat the man, who beat the man, if you know what I mean.
