Carl Froch

Post by MarkMcBurney »

According to two IFL videos today he is serious about coming back for a third Groves fight, if Groves wants it, at 175lb.

What's wrong with the guy? He can't have spent all his money, so is he really that desperate for the limelight that he would come back after 5yrs out?

Aside from the fact that with that inactivity, Groves pancakes him if they do fight again.

I'll watch him slap around George again. One of the only true warriors at the top level of the last couple decades.

Think it’s more limelight than monies - he invested in property/restaurant and built house for himself so don’t think it’s money side. He got paid 10m plus for 2nd fight at Wembley.

One thing it did highlight though for a Sky commentator to have such little knowledge of the sport - he knows very little outside small uk band of fighters.

I seen in interview months back how Eddie said Froch phones him before every show for opinions.

Then yesterday he was asking who Haney was...his record....age....what weight do you fight at etc.

I’ve have Andy Lee/Andy Clarke any day ahead of Froch commentating.

I also think Groves would knock Froch out if they fought at the end of the year. Groves will have been out for 12 months, Froch 5 years. That's obscene.

Even allowing the 5 years - Froch is an athlete - Groves body is done - Shoulder/Punch resistance is not there - too many wars.

I think he's as serious as Lewis was with his comeback claims about 2-3 years after he retired.

If the money is right, he'll fight Groves. .... chances of the money being right - slim to none.

No he wouldn't. He's 5 years retired and if Groves came back today, he's still an active fighter really who's been fighting at elite level. 5 years is a long time not boxing to step in to the ring with a pretty much active elite fighter. Froch isn't an early 30s Sugar Ray Leonard

Froch was a machine when he was fighting, incredibly, obsessively dedicated to his fitness but five years of inactivity (even if he has been ‘keeping fit’) would have taken their toll.

Froch is a major egomaniac. He is clearly really struggling with not being the centre of attention anymore. It's eating him up inside and it's visible in his facial expressions.

That ego is also stopping him doing his homework for his job. It's not an 'honour' to have you as a pundit, you have to feckin know your sh!t for god sake!
