Kerman Lejarraga vs. Luis Solis - June 8, 2019

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Welterweight contender Kerman Lejarraga is already set to return for the first time since suffering his first career defeat, which came last month at the hands of veteran boxer David Avanesyan in their EBU title clash.

Lejarraga will face Mexico's Luis "Muecas" Solis on June 8 in Bilbao.

Solis, 27, has a record of 25 victories (21 KOs), 9 defeats (3 KOs) and 4 draws and is a "puncher accustomed to facing former world champions", a quote highlighted from the promoter of Lejarraga.

As confirmed by MGZ Promotions, the company which promotes Lejarraga overseas, the Latino title of the World Boxing Council (WBC) will also be at stake in the fight.

"The Mexican fighters demand the most and I want to show that I'm still ready for everything, and I was looking for an opponent like that because the fans that come to Bilbao deserve to see real boxing," said Lejarraga about this fight.

"Boxing must be true and in this fight here there is a real risk.

Lejarraga is ranked 13th in the world under the WBC and aspires to return to the 'top 10' with a victory against the Yucatan fighter.

The event showing Kerman's return fight is live now for $9.99 at www.fite.tv

http://boxrec.com/en/event/786140

For those who like old school boxing, many 50/50 matches, I recommend the event. Right now it is a 6 rounder. The main event is local fighter Andoni Gago fighting another spaniard for the EBU featherweight title. David Avanesyan is ringside. If Kerman wins I guess we'll see Avanesyan in the ring after his fight.

Known as “The Revolver”, Kerman Lejarraga (28-1, 23 KOs) bounced back from his first defeat with a fourth-round stoppage of Mexican Luis Solis (25-10-4, 21 KOs) on Saturday night, June 8, in front of a massive hometown crowd at the Bilbao Arena, in Bilbao, Spain. The victory earned the 27-year-old Lejarraga the vacant WBC Latino Super Welterweight Title.

Co-promoted by DiBella Entertainment and MGZ Promotions, Lejarraga will likely move back down to welterweight in his next fight and is eager to set up a highly anticipated rematch against David Avanesyan, who defeated him on March 30, for the European Welterweight Title. Avanesyan was in the ring following Lejarraga’s victory to congratulate him on Saturday night.

“I’m happy about getting back on track after my first loss,” said Lejarraga. “This is what boxing is all about. We have to get up and keep fighting.”

“I’m proud of Kerman. He rebounded well with a knockout victory and showed that he is ready to resume his climb up the world rankings,”
said promoter Lou DiBella. “He has what it takes to compete at the highest level of the sport and I’d love to bring ‘The Revolver’ to the United States to match him up against the top welterweights.”

“Kerman was smart and cautious, learning from past mistakes,”
said Txutxi Del Valle, of MGZ Promotions. “He looked ambitious like when he beat Bradley Skeete last year. This version of Kerman would have knocked out Avanesyan.”
