Dave Allen

Post by Stuarty »

Seems to be quite the popular guy nowadays! How do you all rate him as a fighter though? He's had a right good few chances off Sky and Hearn! Let himself down a few times not training etc!

I quite like the guy as a person. He seems like a good guy but I still don't know what to make of him as a fighter! He's obviously got a wee bit of talent about him and he's as tough as nails but I can't make my mind up on what level he's on!

Yeah I agree but he keeps getting on big cards and his win over Browne was pretty impressive to be fair. I don't think he's anything special at all. He's mildly amusing but why the hell has he became so popular?

hes maybe like the 9th best hw in the uk... i would take at least the following over him: aj, whyte, fury, chisora, hughie, joyce, dubois, gorman.

browne was shot to sh!t--old and off his drugs and just brutally ko'd. he didnt even deserve that win over soko. very flattering matchmaking but ppl are buying it

hes low brit level at tops imo

Yeah you make a fair point. Why's he so popular though? He's not that entertaining!

He’s doing much more interviews now.

Looks like SKY are building him as the next PPV star. Haha

He comes across a nice dude. Has a bit of character about him. Do you know him Mick? How do you rate him?

I concur.

Seems alright. Decent enough fella! Pretty ordinary to watch and not really good enough to make big waves in the sport internationally.

Seems to be Hearns little project to see if he can push someone like him up the rankings.

A couple of sessions with Eileen Drewery might help him!

Got a mate in the know and Dave has earned around 350 k in purses in his career so far , fair play to him for maximising his earnings from his ability because British title level is probably as far as he goes .

He had quite some amount of entertaining fights and KOs, plus he seems to be a nice fella, so the crowd loves him. But as a boxer he hardly carries something else besides power and toughness.

Fair play to him - I remember Hearn telling him buy yourself a house - once you pay that buy another - then another and he seems to be taking that advice and investing from his Twitter in different properties.

Good to see someone get a turn from the sport - it’s a dangerous game and how many fighters end up potless and nothing to show from bad advice.

Yeah, that was a smart strategy.

I'm optimistic that having proper training camps and seemingly rededicated to the sport, that Allen can improve. How much? British level probably the highest given his limitations. I like him as a fella; and I think he's a good watch.

I like him, honest and not big mouthed, with a proper training camp and dedication i can see him maybe getting a British title fight,i think his luck will continue with the Price fight.

I dont think Dave's very good but hes on an interesting run right now.
Assuming he can beat Price, whats next? Could Hearn sell Allen Vs Charr as a 50/50 HW world title bout?

It's obvious why he's popular. There's only one Dave Allen, it's impossible not to like him. I was impressed by the Browne fight too, it was a clinical one-punch job. I think he can mix it at British level, just below the top guys like Aj or Whyte and he can make good money doing so. Credit to speedmobile on that front by the way, he's good like that.

Yes, although it always seems to have been like that. I remember fighters talking about in the 90s as well.
