The Boxrec database includes the bout (388458) between Torpedo Billy Murphy and Jack Collins on September 12th 1893 at the Clermont Avenue Rink, Brooklyn, NY. "The Referee" issue from 6 DEC1893 indicates the bout took place on September 23rd at the Fair Play Athletic Club, Brooklyn, NY. Which date & location is correct? Could they have met twice. Anybody know? The reported results are the same "KO2."

Thanks for the advice has helped me tremendously. I found the 14SEP 1893 Brooklyn Daily Eagle page 2 that says that the Fair Play Athletic clubs show will be held at the Union Athletic Club Building on Fulton and Pineapple Streets on Sep 23rd. The date is corroborated by the Referee report.

The bout listed in Boxrec was listed as having occurred at the Clermont Avenue Rink, Brooklyn, NY on Sep12-1893. So I think someone got the date wrong. They may have fought twice. But the same result KO-2 seems unlikely.

None of three Brooklyn newspapers on Sept 13 reported any bouts held the previous day.
Citizen and Standard Union reported the Sept 23 bout (Murphy W-KO2 Collins, referee Benny Murphy).
