Middleweights: Emile Griffith vs John Mugabi

Post by scorpio83 »

Who would win this match up at middleweight? Griffith's strategy to tame the Beast was to outbox him behind his good left jabs and circled around the ring to settle for a decision in 15 rounds while avoiding Mugabi's overhand right hands throughout the fight. Mugabi's strategy was to land home early with his overhand right on Griffith like he was Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. What do you guys think?

Mugabi could knock him out in the first round like Carter did, but most likely it's a decision for Griffith.

With the exception of punching power, Emile Griffith is above John "The Beast" Mugabi in all areas of boxing.

Griffith would batter Mugabi behind his jabs and long range combinations to stop him in the later rounds unlike "Bad" Bennie Briscoe who had a iron and a great puncher, whom Griffith decision him in their first meeting.
