Re: Usyk out
It is a better fight, imo.
Re: Usyk out
It will take months to come back from a torn bicep. If it's just a small tear, then only a couple of months.
OR
It could make his next fight vs AJ for the titles.

Re: Usyk out
Usyk is something very special. I knew that right away. But even so is starting off with the champ a smart thing to do? I don't think so., even tho i believe he could beat him. But i would prefer he didn't do it quite like his cyborg countryman lomachenko and make a beeline for the champ. Or maybe he should....
Re: Usyk out
If Usyk fights AJ for his first Heavyweight fight, I hope the odds are somewhat close because I’ll bet all I can on AJ.

Re: Usyk out
The timing of this injury seems far too coincidental to me, because it was only a few days ago that AJ and Hearn kept mentioning Oleksandr as being in the frame to become Joshua’s next opponent after the Ruiz Jr. bout.
Perhaps the Ukrainian really is injured or maybe he doesn’t want to risk a $10m+ payday against Carlos Takam.

Re: Usyk out
I thought that Usyk had already remarked that he wanted 2 or 3 fights at heavyweight before tackling the top guys.
It seems that Joshua vs Usyk is a fight that Hearn would want to build up to, in an effort to maximize revenue.
There are plenty nonbelievers out there who insist that Usyk is somehow too small to be a legitimate heavyweight threat.
Hearn would want Usyk to disprove that view by tackling and dismantling some big guys first.
Then even the sceptics might be convinced and Joshua-Usyk becomes one of boxing's biggest, most intriguing bouts.

Can they? It doesn't sound so bad like a joint or back injury. That's one of the very few athletic injuries I DIDN'T have!
Re: Usyk out
It's not. It can take a while to heal depending on the extent of the tear. A minor tear could take up to three months.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑08 May 2019, 12:08 Can they? It doesn't sound so bad like a joint or back injury. That's one of the very few athletic injuries I DIDN'T have!

Re: Usyk out
Depends how minor, no? I suppose a very minor tear could heal faster. If I was his trainer I would have told him to apply DMSO to it right away! Hopefully it would be on hand. That stuff works wonders if you apply it right away immediately after an injury!

Me too...............

............And the best HW ever had the same height and reach as Usyk. Very strange logic.SenorPipino wrote: ↑08 May 2019, 11:32 I thought that Usyk had already remarked that he wanted 2 or 3 fights at heavyweight before tackling the top guys.

Hardly. The best ever heavyweight(s) were the Klitschko brothers. But they are probably talking about the best ever racist showboating hype job.

Re: Usyk out
If you're talking Ali, modern fans would swear that Ali wouldn't dare fight today's heavyweight giants.
He would stick to the cruiserweight division.
No telling what weight class Louis, Dempsey and Marciano would hide in
