It has been said that however once Sonny Liston lost the HW Championship to Cassius Clay ,he no longer trained to NIGHT Train but to this song(which he very well have been training to earlier because it came out in 1960)

It was a song called" Im a Lover Man" or something like that.
about 8 years ago, someone found a rare copy of it in a sleeve
of a Olivia Newton John album that they purchased at a yard sale.
They offered it for sale at the cyberboxing zone site and even included a small audio sample to prove it,
but shortly afterwards, someone hacked the web site and all the info was lost including that link.
This is from Nick Tosches book

"it was said in November (1970) Sonny entered a Las Vegas recording studio and made him a rock 'n' roll record and that he was hoping that it might bring him a few bucks when it was released.
Nothing else was ever heard or discovered about this record."

I recall this being mentioned in the recent Sonny Liston book too though Nick's book is one of the main sources for that book.

It's been years since I read Night Train. Still the best Liston book for me.

O dear, I think it's amusing but borders on fiction. The version I have is called The Devil and Sonny Liston, by the way.

Thanks. That's the one I meant. I've also got Night Train, Murder of Sonny Liston and Phantom Punch so sometimes get my books mixed up! Also have the Bob Mee one about Ali v Liston too

I tried to read Devil and Sonny Liston. I say tried because it was a train wreck as far as writing is concerned. Could NOT get into it.

SONNY BOY:The Life and Strife of Sonny Liston was orginally published in HC in Britain only back in 1993.

THE DEVIL AND SONNY LISTON by Nick Tosches was originally published in the USA in April 2000.
( but parts of it were from an article/story by him published earlier in the February 1998 edition of VANITY FAIR magazine
and that article was expanded and the basis of the 2000 book)
btw that 1998 article by Nick Tosches in VANITY FAIR contained some interesting passages and information that was not in the 2000 book.
The article use to be on-line in Google Books I think, but I can't seem to find it on their now.
