Carlos Baldomir accused of sexually abusing eight-year-old girl

Former world champion boxer Carlos Baldomir is set to stand trial for repeatedly sexually abusing an eight-year-old girl.

Baldomir will stand trial in the province of Santa Fe in Argentina on July 25 after being charged with “qualified sexual abuse with sexual intercourse and serious sexual abuse” against the girl, who who was eight years old at the time of the alleged abuse.

Prosecutors are asking for 20 years in prison to the former welterweight boxer, who was the WBC Welterweight Champion of the World in 2006.

The case began in 2016 when a criminal complaint was filed against him.

The former boxer was arrested 20 days later in the city of Junin in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires.

He has been held in pre-trial custody since then, with the authorities requesting two requests for his release.
