That match-up is awesome, although surprising that they're going for it so early. Either way, I suspect Dubois is probably a solid favorite.

It takes cajones for unbeaten prospects to have a "somebody's O has got to go" showdown. Props to both these guys for risking their Os!!

Re: DUBOIS-GORMAN NOW OFFICIAL FOR JULY 13! WHO WINS & HOW?
Gorman is the more rounded boxer, very smart and has quick hands. Dubois has the size, reach and power advantages, as well as being a decent inside fighter and having a good chin.
I reckon Gorman will establish an early lead, assuming he doesn’t trade with Dubois, but will inevitably tire down the stretch. Nathan needs to turn this into a chess match rather than a fight.
In my mind, Dubois is more than capable of coming back from behind to score a late stoppage, as long as he can force Gorman to engage with him.
I feel the outcome of this fight will be dependant on how things play out during the final few rounds, when both men are tired.
I favour Gorman to score a decision victory, but he may have to overcome adversity and do his upmost to avoid being stopped late by a desperate and relentless rally from Dubois.

Re: DUBOIS-GORMAN NOW OFFICIAL FOR JULY 13! WHO WINS & HOW?
Totally stupid and unnecessary fight - not how you build a brand.
I suspect it's Gorman's (over?) confidence that's responsible for this. But even given that he's convinced he can dance around Dubois for 12 rounds Tyson Fury style, how much will he gain from that?
For what it's worth I hope the far more exciting Dubois drops him. Sure Gorman's a better boxer right now, but Daniel Dubois isn't standing still either.
One of them can afford to make a few mistakes in order to risk landing a big power shot, the other can't.

Re: DUBOIS-GORMAN NOW OFFICIAL FOR JULY 13! WHO WINS & HOW?
To be fair, Daniel Dubois did claim that his fight against Gorman would be the easiest bout of his career and was even promising a devastating KO (his words, not mine).Thomastearns wrote: ↑10 May 2019, 03:51I suspect it's Gorman's (over?) confidence that's responsible for this.
Whereas when Nathan was being interviewed, he openly admitted that he was expecting a tough fight.
These are the things both men stated yesterday.
If there's one fighter that's guilty of being over-confident, then it's clearly Dubois.
For the record, I don't really have a proverbial horse in this race, because I've only been recently acquainted with these guys, so I'm not bothered about the outcome, as I only want to see a good fight.
I completely agree with this and I said something similar about this fight last week.Thomastearns wrote: ↑10 May 2019, 03:51Totally stupid and unnecessary fight - not how you build a brand.

Hey don't knock it. It's a treat to see a fight between two heavyweight prospects so early in their careers. I am surprised it's happening given Fwank's initial hostility to the BBBC's nomination, but it makes more sense than Dubois vs Joyce, and the loser can come again.
I think I lean slightly toward Dubois who has the advantages of reach and power, but I don't expect him to stop Gorman who seems solid and capable, if not exactly the world's mosr scintillating heavyweight in development.

Re: DUBOIS-GORMAN NOW OFFICIAL FOR JULY 13! WHO WINS & HOW?
A superb fight. Two rising prospects face each other today - that's unbelievable. Really. Someone will get KTFOed. And that will most likely be Gorman, cause Dubois is bigger, stronger and seems to be better in delivering of his bombs.

This is a great fight that should make both fighters better, regardless who wins.

of course boxing needs this kind of match-up, prospect vs prospect, undefeated vs undefeated, top 15-20 fighting each other, top 5-10 fighting each other etc
protecting the 0 by most of fighters kills boxing.

I don't think it will be competitive.
Dubois will prove far too strong and further developed than Gorman.
Dubois breaks Gorman down from the opening bell and takes him out in 5.

good fight, i like Nathan Gorman natural with his hands , gota make sure he dont get backed on the ropes and in to the coner , looks like he can counter as well gorman , i think if doubois starts strong bully him, back him off, Gorman wont be able to fight at his own pace , iam not conviced Gorman carries that much power either i rate doubois he will to be quick and powerfull and go for the from the the off , going doubois ko

Calm down pal. It might be of help to you if you read the following carefully.littlepug wrote: ↑11 May 2019, 18:28 Are you effing mental ? Not how you build a brand ??? Neither fighter is anywhere near their potential yet. Like I said, totally unnecessarily risky contrived fight at this point in their careers.
This kind of careless 'old school' premature matchmaking has destroyed more than a few careers over the years and should be predominantly reserved for budding superstars. As allegedly knows only far too well.
Don't believe me? Ask the loser (hopefully Gorman) in about two years time whether it was worth taking the risk.
Will I be watching? Of course I will.
I never said it wouldn't be exciting, none of Daniel Dubois' fights so far have been.
Re: DUBOIS-GORMAN NOW OFFICIAL FOR JULY 13! WHO WINS & HOW?
Ok I may have overreacted a tad lol ! I still don’t agree though, this kind of matchup benefits both guys win or lose, they get the experience of being in a big fight and all the pressures that come with it, the winner will have passed a serious test and will be a better fighter for it, the loser will have lost to a good fighter in a big fight, no shame there, he moves on and works on his mistakes and if he’s good enough he improves, if he doesn’t improve then he probably wouldn’t of made it anyway, in terms of building a brand and all that, well that’s the business side of which I have little interest in because as important as it is to make money it hinders the sport and stops appealing and even matches from being made, playing it safe at all levels does no one any good, not the boxers or the fans.Thomastearns wrote: ↑12 May 2019, 11:39 Calm down pal. Yeah, as long as the matchup isn't too one sided (and this one isn't) it's a great fight.dagilechia wrote: ↑11 May 2019, 18:34 of course boxing needs this kind of match-up, prospect vs prospect, undefeated vs undefeated, top 15-20 fighting each other, top 5-10 fighting each other etc

Who honestly cares about unbeaten records anyway?
The measure of a great fighter is testing yourself, learning from your mistakes, and avenging losses.
Re: DUBOIS-GORMAN NOW OFFICIAL FOR JULY 13! WHO WINS & HOW?
Exactly.
Never did De Gale or Groves any harm fighting each other early.
People worry too much about losing the 0 these days.

You sound old school.
Nowadays fans lambaste a fighter as a worthless bum once he loses.
Once upon a time it was said that if you don't lose, then you're not learning.
But today a fighter fears that losing that 0 will cost him his reputation, choice paydays and any respect he has built up during an unbeaten run.

Could be an entertaining fight, Groves v DeGale
Could be a dreadful watch when they just don’t fit together well, Chamberlain v Okolie
Both men are babies with time to rebuild and possibly BT are demanding something more interesting
