Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
He got the stoppage in round 10
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
Just when it looked like Doyle would survive he was set up against the ropes and one-punch KOd with a left hook in the 10th.
Wood was impressive - more or less flawless display and got the KO for the fans.

Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
Peach of a KO from Wood to cap off a career best performance, combinations to the body then bang with the left hook, pretty much punch perfect from Wood, showed a bit of everything, jab was key, countered excellently, accurate combinations when backing Doyle up on he ropes. front foot, back foot, head, body and switched very effectively, never knew he could fight southpaw but he done it at a canter, disappointed with Doyle's effort I expected more but he was never in the fight, stood in front of Wood and rarely let his hands go, Wood just picked him off starting with 1/2s then boxed his way into it more round after round, putting on the pressure and taking Doyle apart
Doyle never won a round but was looking as fresh as he had done all night before getting KO'd, something defo missing there but Wood was class

Tough night for Gill this, looks well on his way to losing his unbeaten record, had a good 7th there TBF but down twice from bodyshots, he's taking the headshots well but doesn't have the power to hurt Tinoco or the strength to hold him off

Gill is pulled out after the 8th, was put down from another bodyshot right at the end of the round, left hand this time, maybe suffered a broken rib, big upset, Tinico will be back here

Not much you can do when you get pinged to the body like that, very impressed with the Mexican !
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
What do you reckon...?
Gill overtrained, overconfident ?
Or just not that good ?

Gill is a classy lad, but would have liked if he didn't bring up the food poisoning
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
That’s a big mistake by fighter and trainer - fighting with food poisoning - absolute stupidity,kbackup408 wrote: ↑10 May 2019, 18:06 Gill is a classy lad, but would have liked if he didn't bring up the food poisoning

He went 10 with Haney - he’s was going to be hardy - if your not 100% you shouldn’t fight.leftrightleft wrote: ↑10 May 2019, 18:10 Gill said he thought he poo was going to come out everytime he got hit in the body lmao
Booth pulled Kelly v Avanesyan with Illness. You can’t gamble like that.

Nottingham Arena, Nottingham - In a major upset, Enrique Tinoco (18-5-4, 13 KOs), who struggled on the scale to make weight for this contest, scored three knockdowns to stop rising featherweight prospect Jordan Gill (23-1, 7 KOs) after eight rounds of action. This was Tinoco's first bout at featherweight since March 2015.
The victory gives Tinoco the WBA International featherweight title.
Coming in, Gill has been blasting out the competition with three stoppage victories. He knocked out Emmanuel Dominguez in three rounds back in March.
Tinoco is very durable. He won a six round decision over Juan Beltran in March. In his biggest contests, Tinoco was able to go the distance in decision losses with hot contender Devin Haney and Mario Barrios.
The sole knockout loss on his record, came to dangerous puncher Miguel Roman in February 2014.
Gill came out boxing, proving that he was far more polished than Tinoco.
As the rounds played out, Tinoco was starting to really warm up with his inside fighting and put down Gill in the third round with a very hard body shot. Gill was hurting and got up at the count of six. He played it safe to get out of trouble as Tinoco was trying to finish him off.
Gill seemed to recover by the fourth, and he was using the jab and trying to keep Tinoco at bay. Tinoco was pressing forward and throwing the bigger punches.
But then during the fifth round, Tinoco nailed him again with hard shots to the body and sent Gill down in pain. Once again Gill beat the count, and then used the ring and his legs to avoid further damage.
Tinoco came out throwing big punches in the sixth, as Gill was on the run and trying to get away from danger. Gill was jabbing and hooking Tinoco with shots when he came in. Tinoco started landing big punches as he rushed in. Gill was able to hold on and then came back with punches of his own.
Gill continued to box and land crisp shots in the seventh. Tinoco was walking through the punches, but having trouble with landing his bigger counters. Tinoco was letting his hands go in the eight and Gill's face was swelling up around the left eye. Tinoco dominated most of the action as Gill was pretty much playing it safe and staying away. Near the end of the round, Gill got dropped for a third time with another body shot.
And the fight was waved off by the corner of Gill, before the start of the ninth round.

That’s Ted, Fowler and now Gill who have all lost this year. 2 of them are with Caldwell.

So he says - didn’t look 100% compared to all his recent fights granted but he was going up a level but to get in ring with food poisoning for small (ish) purse is lunacy.

Well done to Tinoco, bullied his way inside throughout and his cracking body work got the job done. Nice boxing performance from Wood earlier too, Doyle struggled badly getting to grips with his shot selection and footwork. Very one sided with a crisp finishing shot to boot.
