Hearn was quite right - we thought we could box and move and still beat him even feeling unwell is just stupid.
Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
Fowler was GB captain and Gill was unbeaten with the Ingles. Coldwell gets high profile fighters due to his bromance with Hearn and gets hailed as a top trainer.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 May 2019, 18:20 That’s Ted, Fowler and now Gill who have all lost this year. 2 of them are with Caldwell.
Bellew and the McDonnell twins got banged out last year to add to these two.
Hearn will have to match Chisora very carefully.
Good for Coldwell that he was boosting his profile in Vegas last week rather than training his fighter.

Both Wood and Gill saying they felt flat in the changing room before fighting, Gill if he was ill understandable but Wood a bit of a concern. He got the job done beautifully so that negates it I guess.

Coldwell claims that Gill had food poisoning on the day, but he didn't know.
If someone genuinely got food poisoning that day, I'm struggling to believe that they would be able to hide it from their trainer before a fight.

you will be surprised how well boxers can hide injuries/niggles before a bout

I've had food poisoning. I don't believe it is possible to hide it on the first day.kbackup408 wrote: ↑11 May 2019, 07:14 you will be surprised how well boxers can hide injuries/niggles before a bout

And we're supposed to believe that nobody in the changing room noticed. Gill wasn't exactly in a hurry to leave the ring after.
This excuse does smell though.
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
Mild dose of the shits maybe, doubt he had actual food poisoning like salmonella or similar.
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
When did Gill leave the Ingles? I ask that because his first 18 opponents all had losing records, so it's hardly surprising he remained unbeaten under them (although I accept that Jordan Ellison is much better than his record suggests btw).
If more fighters were matched more competitively then there would be less emphasis on being unbeaten, as defeat would be seen as part of the learning process. Although maybe my view has been skewed by watching MMA for a few years, I'm increasingly fed up of the absolute shower that is matchmaking on the average UK boxing card.

Would mostly agree with you but I have been unfortunate to have campiloybacter twice years apart , and the first time I went 2 weeks with just mild bad stomach problems until it really took a grip and I was $hitting fresh blood .
The second time I knew within a day what it was as I felt that bad.
Either way he was still crazy to take the fight .

Never thought about that TBH, bad choice, Gill must be pissed
Re: Round-by-Round: JD NXTGEN: Nottingham - 10 May 2019
Is Coldwell any good as a trainer ? Fair play he beat a old one legged injured haye, but what’s the script with him is he just a pundit and a celebrity’s? Why was he in Vegas week
Before his boxer fighting this doesn’t sit well
?
