His #22 ranking on BoxRec is pretty flattering.

Beating a finished Browne has inflated his actual level.
Allen has always said his losses where short notice fights.

It's mostly true. Look at his record and you can see he's never really had a full camp until this fight.

To me, it seemed like all the steam went out of Allen motivation-wise after the Lenroy Thomas rematch. He'd obviously trained his balls off (check out his weight for that fight - eight pounds lighter than Saturday night) only for it to go down the toilet on an accidental headbutt in round 1. So I think it's fantastic he's finally had another chance to fight on a full camp and grabbed the opportunity with both hands..

Here's hoping Allen gets rewarded with a good payday. Assuming he's being lined up for Price, I think he outlasts the Liverpudlian quite easily - that has to be worth a few quid - and perhaps that will lead to a shot at British or European honours afterwards. (Let's not kid ourselves about a world title shot - Allen has a good chin, but that will only cost him a lot of brain cells.)

Listen, I'm not hating on the lad, I like him as much as the next guy.

Maybe he will learn how to box, or learn to use what he has (a couple semi-impressive KO's in his last few fights).

That being said, against Browne he still looked very ungainly and uncoordinated. I'll happily be proven wrong, but at the moment I am not convinced he brings much to the party (although i do think he would outlast Price, if he can avoid the bombs in the opening 5-6 rounds).
