Jordan Gill will defend his WBA international featherweight title against Enrique Tinoco at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on May 10.

The fight will feature in the latest installment of the JD NXTGEN series and will be live on Sky Sports.



Gill broke into the WBA's top 15 world rankings when he outclassed and stopped Mexico's Emmanuel Dominguez in three rounds to win the international featherweight strap and is wasting no time as he defends his title against another tough Mexican in Tinoco.

"Getting out again so soon after my win in Peterborough is great for building the momentum," said Gill.

"I want to stay fresh in everyone's minds and to keep on building and learning is important. To keep on winning and improving is the main aim and I can't wait to get out again on May 10."

"I don't know too much about my opponent. I know he's tough and very seasoned, he went the distance with Devin Haney who's an unbeaten and well-ranked lightweight."

Exciting New Jersey Super-Featherweight prospect Raymond Ford (1-0) fights in the UK for the first time as a professional after getting off to winning ways on his pro debut on the Tevin Farmer vs. Jono Carroll undercard in Philadelphia last month and Denaby Lightweight Terri Harper (6-0, 3 KOs) gets another opportunity on the big stage after winning the WBC International Female Lightweight title in her last fight.

Terri Harper To Face Argentine On Gill-Tinoco Card

Terri Harper has had her next fight confirmed.

The 22-year-old lightweight will make the first defence of her WBC International title on May 10.

Harper is set to box at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN Stateside, as part of the supporting cast to Jordan Gill's WBA International featherweight title defence against Enrique Tinoco.

And the female star, who stopped Nina Bradley in her last outing back in March, is scheduled to face former two-time, two-weight world champion Claudia Andrea Lopez of Argentina.

Lopez (25-9, 6 KOs) has been out since last October when she won a majority decision over Gladys Soledad Segui and her fight with undefeated 6-0 pro Harper, who has three quick finishes on her ledger, will be over 10 rounds.

US super-featherweight Raymond Ford is on the bill in a showcase outing alongside Smith's former Team GB teammate Charles Frankham, who makes his bow in the paid code, and Brad Daws.

Commonwealth middleweight champion Felix Cash is back in action and Qais Ashfaq features with Dillian Whyte's heavyweight prospect Fabio Wardley.

Wood vs Doyle is a 50/50 fight, struggling to pick a winner, I thought Wood looked really good last time out in winning the Commonwealth, the fella Bonsu was gash but Wood went about his work with real purpose and didn't mess about in getting him out of there, broke him down to the body, Doyle was obviously stopped in his last fight against Gill when he lost the title, nothing wrong with that as Gill looks quality and Doyle was excellent against Bellotti

If I was to go out on a limb i'd probably say Wood outpoints Doyle in a close one, should be decent though

Stephen Smith will snap his lengthy ring hiatus later this week.

‘Swifty’ is set to box at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on Friday, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN Stateside, as part of the supporting cast to Jordan Gill's WBA International featherweight title defence against Enrique Tinoco.

He will be hoping that a win, against an opponent to be named, will push him back into title contention in the talent-laden 130-pound division, with this promoter Eddie Hearn having already mentioned the idea of putting him in with former British, Commonwealth and European and current WBC International Silver champion Martin Joseph Ward before the year is out.

I know whenever a young prospect loses that everyone always says “he’s young, he’ll learn from this and come back stronger”, but I wonder what the actual stats would show? I reckon it’s only true in maybe 20% of cases; for the majority it just shows they were overhyped and weren’t anywhere near as good as predicted.

Obviously that’s just a total finger-in-the-air guess on my part and would be very difficult to quantify in reality anyway, but it’s an interesting question.

It’s not that difficult to win one world title in some divisions in this day and age.

If there was only 1 champion per weight class, guys like Crolla, Burns, Bellew would never have won a world title.

gill just got battered off tinoco, whose only been a journeyman vs other prospects. im hardly confident gillys even at weak vacant title level, usually that still means at least good euro level. doesnt matter if your with hearn, not everyone can win a world title even if its abc

and lets face it, ryan doyle has flattered several fighters now
