as expected - wilder doesn't know the burden you carry after causing that kinda damage wishing for a breazeale upset but don't av' much hope in dominic too stiff!Enlightened-One wrote: ↑15 May 2019, 16:05 There’s plenty of media articles detailing his emotional distress about this situation.

Re: Wilder wants a body on his record..
you just never know pal, everyone takes head trauma differently - one thing wilder has is shut out power which is so frikkin' rare only a handful of fighters who had that sorta power!Impractical Poster wrote: ↑15 May 2019, 16:05 Saying he wants a body on his record is something outlandish to say to grab attention. It may also scare his opponent. We already know what type of power he has. Whether the intent is life ending (which I highly doubt) or not, the potential for a life altering outcome is there, either way. So, it really doesn't matter what he says, just as long as he listens to the ref and abides by the rules.

This has come up again? He said this sh*t years ago

Yeah, people will be highly critical of him, and I'm sure he'd feel horrible. But, that's on him.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑15 May 2019, 16:08 I don’t believe boxers should be allowed to say anything they damn well want, purely for the sake of self-promotion. Especially in a sport where tragedies happen.
A line has to be drawn somewhere.
Wilder has repeatedly claimed about one of his ambitions to kill someone. And if he ever manages to do it, then I’m pretty sure people would be highly-critical of him.
As far as censoring speech. I'm not for it. If we start censorship with this, who knows how far it'll go.

I believe in free speech, but fighters shouldn't be allowed to bite the hand that feeds them by bringing the sport into disrepute, whereby the consequences of their actions could adversely affect the earning potential and social standings of their peers.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑15 May 2019, 16:34 Yeah, people will be highly critical of him, and I'm sure he'd feel horrible. None of us truly have free speech. We all censor our actions and words based according to the environment.
Those that don't are unfortunate sufferers of Tourette's Syndrome.
Wilder is the WBC's world heavyweight champion. The WBC has rules and he ignores them.
Re: Wilder wants a body on his record..
Ok, well do we need fake outrage, and all that every time he says it? Can't we all just chalk it up to bravado, and pay it no mind. That's what I do.
Re: Wilder wants a body on his record..
i guess if ppl hadnt heard him say it before theyd react

"Sexual battery"? Maybe in feminized Commyfornia, USA.SenorPipino wrote: ↑15 May 2019, 15:03 Pulev committed a sexual battery.
Wilder just said something politically incorrect. Hardly anything that needs to be sanctioned.
Too much handwringing over Wilder's embrace of verbal bravado and feigned indifference to an opponent's well-being.
If you enjoy a sport built on physical violence, the use of mere words and threats should seem pretty tame in comparison.
In a moment of exuberance he kissed the professional naked sushi girl who was sidled up next to him and who had probably, judging by the film clip, spent the night before blowing every guy in the room.
That famous photo of a sailor in Times Square grabbing a random pretty girl and French kissing her at the end of WW2. The MeToo crowd would try to get him the death penalty if it happened now!

let's say Pulev commited a 'sexual battery'... so what? it's ridiculous that boxers get suspended due to events in their private life... other fighters, especially black american ones, regularly commit worse crimes, including sexual battery and rapes. never heard any to get suspended due to that.
Re: Wilder wants a body on his record..
he should be suspended for saying that.

I know a man who killed another, claimed self-defence, and did minimal time for it. His son did the exact same thing. They both put it down to bad luck for the deceased rather than accepting proper responsibility, because while they started those fights, neither meant for their victims to die. A few years' time squared it in their world, and they were both back out boozing on release.
Re: Wilder wants a body on his record..
Maybe the boozing was self-medicating. Sounds like they had a lot of issues.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑15 May 2019, 17:04 I know a man who killed another, claimed self-defence, and did minimal time for it. His son did the exact same thing. Lifelong issues, mate, before and after. Almost everyone I know avoids the pair of 'em.

I'm pretty sure I'd retire if I fought as a pro and hurt anyone badly. But then that's probably why I've never fought as a pro!
I think it helps to get into boxing early before this ever feels like a possibility. I never thought about permanent injuries as a teen.

Perhaps Deontay Wilder should sit down with either Nigel Benn or Chris Eubank before he spouts off again about inflicting serious injury or death on one of his opponents...

He is the hardest puncher in boxing. He SUCKER PUNCHED a small person, male or female, who was in that costume. He wound up and hit him or her with all his might. The person went down. The show went off the air. Has anyone seen that person since?
