good thumbs up in boxing monthly this month regarding skys changed listings, article also pointed out ...

"coincidence then that this announcment came at a point when an internet campaign, launched on certain boxing web sites and proposing widescale dropping of sky subscriptions, was reaching its peak? remember you do have a voice"

Can we honestly believe the bombardment of e-mails regarding judah mayweather may have made a difference? Lets hope so!!

This is brilliant from SKY,

It has to be the best coverage in the world,

It shows the power of fans requesting better coverage

If it does get bad again we should keep on complaining untill it gets better

It's true - we do have a voice. Campaigning by members of Boxrec and other forums has made a difference.

It is a rather uncanny coincidence, I have to say, and I really didn't expect those threats to have much impact, but it would appear they worked.

Shame I've not got bloody sky at the moment.... :cry: Must get homechoice sorted at my gaff this week.

I was one of the many who hounded Sky for their poor coverage, threatening to withdraw my subscription.

This morning I sent them a mail commending their change of position RE: top class american fights being shown live.

It would be advisable to do this if you have time. Hound them when they get it wrong but also giving positive feedback when they pull their finger out and get it right will all help in the battle to get the fights we want to see.

SKY

Post by Boxing Addict »

I sent this;

I am a mad boxing fan and have written to SKY several times regarding the poor boxing coverage earlier this year.

I have to say the recent coverage has been second to none, probably the best in the world!!!

I have been very impressed not only with the improvement in the domestic fights shown, with only British, Commenwealth and European Title fights but the coverage of World Titles including some of the best pound for pound fighters from the US (mostly live) has been nothing but amazing; not the only boxing fan that will be feeling like this. Its been a great summer. If SKY are going to continue to do boxing, they should cover it properly like this, there is no competition!!! ITV are not even close!!

Are SKY going to continue the US coverage ? Live ? I hope SKY continue this way, as all boxing fans will have no choice but to get SKY SPORTS as SKY show nearly all the big fights live, not even Box Office which is great.

Please can you inform me if SKY are showing the following upcoming fights,

Shane Mosley Vs Fernando Vargas - Sat 15th July
Carlos Baldomir Vs Arturo Gatti - Sat 22nd July - Big interest for Ricky Hatton - could fight the winner
Hasim Rahman Vs Oleg Maskaev - Sat 29th July

SKY's response;

Thanks for your email regarding boxing.

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your kind comments with regard to coverage of this sport. It is always pleasing to learn that all of our efforts to provide a first class service are appreciated by our viewers.

All of your comments have been noted and passed to Sky Sports for their information.

With regard to future boxing matches. No further bouts from America are scheduled for broadcast at present. However, I have passed an enquiry to sky sports regarding the specific fights you mention in your email and a reply will be forwarded shortly.

Just a quick e-mail to SKY, complimenting the recent boxing coverage and mentioning the upcoming big fights might get us the fights

Dream on gents. Is it any coincidence that the boxing coverage has improved now the football season is over? Think about it!

I Sent em this:

I wrote to yourselves in February and April of this year, condemning the poor boxing coverage being shown by Sky so far this year. Principally it was the lack of international (especially American) big fights that was severely testing my patience and making me seriously reconsider my subscription to Sky.

I think it only fair that where I criticise, I also praise when it is due and would like to congratulate Sky on their belated reinvigoration of the boxing output. A series of high profile American shows, the kind of which boxing fans crave, have been shown and are scheduled to be shown, such as De La Hoya - Mayorga, Barrerra - Juarez, Corrales - Castillo III, Cotto - Mallignagi, all of which have been pleasingly shown live.

It is a continued commitment to exciting domestic shows, such as last night's Mutley - Anderson match, combined with the best of American fights, such as this weekends forthcoming Corrales - Castillo match, that will see me happily continue my Sky subscription for years to come.

I would appreciate it if you could pass on my comments to the person or department who are responsible for the boxing output on Sky. I would like them to know that their efforts are certainly appreciated, and long may the current trend continue!

It took 5 minutes to write the mail this morning, if it helps the flow of top class action to continue then great.

If such viewer comments hold no water with Sky?…hey, at least I tried…

Surely customer feedback, in any commercial sector, must hold some weight?
