He can't improve. He can only decline. However, I expect his prowess to only gradually dimish, rather than becoming a seemingly shot fighter overnight, regardless of having recently parted ways with Abel Sanchez.

GGG will demolish the guy he's facing in his next mismatch, which means that mainstream casuals will be fooled into believing he's some sort of pugilistic equivalent of the ageless Peter Pan. So we won't be able to gauge the true extent of Golovkin's decline against the hideously obscenely overmatched Steve Rolls.

We may only be able to detect whether age has caught up with him until he engages in rematches against the likes of Jacobs and Canelo.

It’s interesting to see you say that because Stephen "Breadman" Edwards said something similar about Jonathan Banks earlier on today:

Why is Jonathan Banks a bad choice? Banks has experience at the top level. He had a great mentor in Emanuel Steward. He knows boxing. Wladimir Klitshcko picked him for a reason and so did GGG. I was just telling a colleague of mine that GGG would pick a black coach.

The reason why is because at his age, he has to be able to do more while exerting less energy. He won’t be able to throw 70 power punches a round. He won’t be able to spar killers every other day. When I heard he picked Banks I actually said to myself good choice. Banks is a sharp dude and a good coach. Let’s see how it plays out before we say it won’t work. I like Banks’s pad work and he will emphasize a rhythm breaking jab, and a better right hand. Most of Emanuel Steward’s coaches work under the same philosophies. GGG has only been able to land his hard jab vs Canelo and Jacobs which is where his performance slide started.

Perhaps GGG is looking to adapt his style to cater for his age in order to extend his career, as we saw with the likes of Mayweather Jr. & Hopkins, by becoming more of a boxer.

When I saw a few of Golovkin’s bouts prior to working with Abel Sanchez, he employed the jab more, used lateral movement and was more defensively responsible. However, his punches didn’t quite seem as potent, which is understandable considering his ring movement at the time.

I also found it rather interesting to hear Breadman’s feedback on Banks’s pad work and emphasis on using a rhythm breaking jab, because Joe Joyce coincidentally claimed that one of the main reasons for him leaving Abel Sanchez very recently was due to a distinct lack of pad work at the gym at Big Bear.

So it looks as though Gennadiy might be trying reinvent himself in order to prolong his career. However, the Steve Rolls fight is far too early to see any real fundamental change to Golovkin’s stylistic approach. It’s going to be a slow and organic change.

Smith was a O.K fight, and much better than Stevie Rolls at a catchweight, and Fielding is better than this guy Rolls.
