I thought the same thing really. No good reason whatsoever to have gone through with this rematch, as there was no reason to believe it could've gone any different. It didn't. Hell it went much worse, and went on far too long. Just ridiculous.

Been off all social media and anything boxing related til today because of the absolute shambles of this fight.

I will try not to rant and it’s obvious I like the kid but I’m absolutely fuming.

Firstly for the first fight.

It was great seeing the post Magdaleno worship in Ghana.
But they shouldn’t of stayed there as long as they did.
The first fight with Navarrete should of been stopped. How he was allowed to take that punishment for 12 rounds was beyond belief.

If I’m his manager after fight one, I do the following.
Firstly get him away from Ghana and either base him in the UK or Stateside.

You’d sit father and son down and suggest getting someone else in the corner. Plenty of trainers and gyms would welcome him with open arms.

You avoid the Navarrete rematch like the plague. You can rebuild him. Such an exciting fighter with a fan-friendly style. He can still operate at the top level (Magdaleno win was top notch) but now you know what styles to avoid.

Instead they did none of the above.
Not only did they take the rematch they did it immediately with little time inbetween.
Did the father learn from his mistake in the first fight? Did he hell!!!! He let his son take an almighty beating. HOS was bang on. 6th round was ideal as he had a good 5th.
After the 4th I’d be looking to pull him
and I would of during the 6th.
He’s took a 24 round beating. I’d say about 16 of them are un-needed.

They’ve ruined him. He may still have a decent career but he won’t be the fighter he should of been. Such a waste.

And they want to move him to Feather now!!!!!

Love the kid but he’s surrounded by morons.

Hope he sorts it out and can still get us shouting NEHO at the highest level again, but I feel so sorry for the lad.
