Brad Foster vs Ashley Lane

Post by handsofstone »

British/Commonwealth Super Bantamweight unification fight on the Saunders/Isufi card on BT this weekend, never seen Foster beat Wale for the British but by all accounts it was a clear win against a bang in form Wale who should've been European champ according a lot of people, never seen that fight either TBH, Lane beat journeyman Ramabalesta on points to win the Commonwealth but again another fight ive not seen, Ive seen a fair bit of Lane over the years been stopped a few times, mostly against good opposition, Wale's beat him twice, Yafai, Farrag and few other guys but he's in decent form , 6 wins on the bounce, wins over Quaye and Economides

If Foster was able to dominate Wale then you'd expect him to outclass Lane

I seen lane years ago get robbed against gavin McDonnell. They gave it a draw. He was really fast and threw lots of punches. Maybe with age he has slowed down.

Not the worst stoppage ive ever seen but I thought it was a bit harsh on Lane there getting stopped with seconds to go, no doubt he was hurt but I think he would've seen it out to the end, overall I was impressed with Foster, especially first 3 rounds he looked a million dollars, relaxed, patient and fluid, picked his shots very well and was landing some clean combinations but not getting carried away, lovely right hand to put Lane down in the 1st and he looked great

He did tail off in the middle rounds though, switching needlessly, I preferred him orthodox when he was able to tag Lane with that quick lead right hand, Lane started to come into it though but I I did mostly prefer the quality of Foster but his workrate dropped and Lane started to unsettle him, Lane looked to finishing the fight as the guy in control but Foster found that big right to drop Lane again, still felt Lane deserved to hear the final bell, Foster looks a mature boxer for 21, still things to learn but that's only natural, he's got class
