Re: Joe Joyce 265 pounds vs Ustinov 283 pounds
Bookies have this as a surprisingly high 50-1 in favor of Joyce. I'm afraid that Ustinov is just being used as a stepping stone now, but still those odds seem much too high - Wilder over Brezeale is only 7 to 1! Maybe the bookies know something I don't know, like that U. isn't even going to try to win.

Re: Joe Joyce 265 pounds vs Ustinov 283 pounds
Ustinov looked awful at the weigh-in for this fight and looked completely shot during his previous outing. Joyce and his manager previously mocked the Russian's boxing ability, to the point they both considered him as being the equivalent of a weak journeyman. And I fear they might be right.
I expect this to be a terribly one-sided and dull mismatch. It'll only be fun for those that have an unquenchable thirst for seeing someone being bullied, beaten up and then KO’d without receiving any sort of resistance.
Personally-speaking, I prefer to watch competitive fights, and this isn’t going to be one of them.

Ustinov used to be considered a top heavy, but I don't think he even cares anymore. Just trying to make some money as an "opponent".
"...mocked the Russian's boxing ability"
He us Belarussian not Russian, closely related but a separate independent country.

..Ustinov is 42+...'nuff said..
Re: Joe Joyce 265 pounds vs Ustinov 283 pounds
Ustinov is terrible. He will get battered. You need
to use movement against Joyce who is a plodder. Stand in front of him and he will club you to death.

Re: Joe Joyce 265 pounds vs Ustinov 283 pounds
what time is this on ??
Re: Joe Joyce 265 pounds vs Ustinov 283 pounds
The original poster said he expects it to go 4 rounds. I think that's a fair expectation and a goal that "The Juggernaut" can realistically accomplish. Ustinov looked horrible in his last outing in Monte Carlo, Monaco vs Michael Hunter.
Re: Joe Joyce 265 pounds vs Ustinov 283 pounds
Joyce will walk him down and knock him out inside of four.

You're delusional if you saw JJ's last fight (vs. Stiverne) and still think this. He is extremely limited with zero defense. And he's 33 years old so not a lot of time to make improvements.characters wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 15:24 Within a couple of hours we'll see the most exiting heavyweight fight of the weekend, I also think JJ will beat Ustinov in about 5 rounds, JJ is ready for nearly all the top of the world and could defeat everyone but AJ imo.
He's a British Seth Mitchell.

BoxRec has him as Russian (birth place & nationality, but not residence). I didn’t dig any deeper than that for his country of origin.Ilya Muromets wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 12:28 "...mocked the Russian's boxing ability"

I’ll assume you’re opinion is more superior on this matter than mine, so I’ll refer to him as a Belarussian from now on.

Better chin than Mitchell, but I agree with your point.jujigatame wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 15:48 You're delusional if you saw JJ's last fight (vs. Stiverne) and still think this. He is extremely limited with zero defense. And he's 33 years old so not a lot of time to make improvements.

I think he's better (or perhaps I should say "more effective") than most on here credit him for, but I think you are wildly overestimating him. Did you see how Usyk dominated him over the WSB 5 rounds distance? It might be different over 10 or 12 but I wouldn't put money on it.characters wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 15:24 Within a couple of hours we'll see the most exiting heavyweight fight of the weekend, I also think JJ will beat Ustinov in about 5 rounds, JJ is ready for nearly all the top of the world and could defeat everyone but AJ imo.

Joyce looked like garbage. Ustinov looked disgraceful. An absolutely horrible mismatch.
I called it.

Couldn't just leave it alone as "Yep, we did?"Enlightened-One wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 17:19 Yep, we did. One or two others didn’t (see some of the previous comments in this thread), unless you have trouble with reading comprehension?![]()

Re: Joe Joyce 265 pounds vs Ustinov 283 pounds
Did you really need to post “you and everyone else”, when this really wasn’t the case?
We agreed on something for once, but yet you yet you seem surprised or disappointed about me retaliating to your needlessly cheap shot?
Treat other people as you’d like to be treated.

What if I said it in a sarcastic sense towards the obvious mismatch and not as you took it?Enlightened-One wrote: ↑18 May 2019, 18:38 Did you really need to post “you and everyone else”, when this really wasn’t the case?

EO Are you going to take credit for correctly identifying Fury as the winner before he fights Schwartz?
Looking at previous posts in this thread, the only one who didn't come right out and pick Joyce as the obvious winner was RedRyan and judging from his comment about Ustinov beating Rogan, I would say his "praise" for Ustinov, was clearly ironic.
Your "victory" would be like Ali proclaiming himself "The greatest" after beating up Jean-Pierre Coopman. True though it may be, It's better said after having just beaten a Frazier or a Foreman don't you agree?
