based off the flanagan fight i pick taylor (only prograis fight i've watched tbh).
certainly don't see a stoppage on this.
pts all the way.
agree he is a fighter that likes to make himself small plants his feet in the centre of the ring , then throws great shots from shoulders , but he will come on to you if you let it, i think taylor bounces well on his toes in and out of range ,jab draw him out give him one them hooks ,Prograis would not stand to what belarusian did tonight
well but prograis is also a lot more refined then barancyk, i dont think hes just going to crudely unload and i think hes craftier defensively as well.

of course but taylor aint a one trick pony. the boy has boxing brain, prograis wont be able to bully taylor , taylor dictate how the fight goes , taylor has to be careful when getting in close with prograis his stance made for the upper cutts hooks , its a great fight to look forward too , and we have boy who has a real chance of winning

The way I see it, Prograis is a horrible fight for anyone. He can really hit and he’s slick as f. He’s hard to hit even though he doesn’t have his hands up and doesn’t move his feet, which always stay in perfect power-punching stance.
Prograis exploits an open stance match up well, the angles of the punches are different when you’re a southpaw vs orthodox and can be easier to slip and roll, especially using his lead shoulder and landing big lefts to the body under straight rights. Gervonta does some similar stuff.
To beat him, you’d ideally have a southpaw stance so the shots are coming from
Different angles and he might not slip em as easy. He didn’t struggle with Flanagan but it did make the very big counters harder to land. You’d also want a lot of speed and good combos, that’s how you get to slicksters. Good long reach because Prograis isn’t the biggest LWW. You’d want to be able to tie him up inside and negate his short hooks. And you definitely need good feet to get in and out to land your own without lingering in the danger zone, this might be possible because Regis doesn’t move his feet much.
Funny enough, Taylor has all that. In a way, I think Regis is better but Taylor has just the right style to beat him. He’d have to be on his game and move constantly and get his respect with some big shots and take a few himself.
For the same reasons I think lomachenko beats Gervonta. Weird how the two matches are similar.
That’s just my view. There’s every chance he drops a bomb on his chin though.
Prograis is a more elusive boxer. Taylor is fast and mobile, he also can hit, but Prograis has excellent reflexes, head and body movement to deal with it. And Prograis' killer instinct seems to be better. Still a close fight. I'd pick Prograis to score a close decision.

Good points but something tells me the open stance matchup suits Prograis more, you've described his style perfectly especially how he keeps his balance between his feet which is the foundation of his solid punching

Thanks mate.
I don’t wanna be a tit about it but I thought two southpaws is a closed stance matchup. That’s just terminology though, I know what you mean. There’s a lot of interesting factors.

Ah yes, duh
My normal go-to line with southpaw vs southpaw is the guy with the best right hand/ right hook wins. I don't see a distinct advantage either way on that, other than I wonder if sometimes when Taylor throws that sort of stride-in lead right hook where I think he could be a little open and countered by a slightly tighter Prograis, my sense of their relative strengths is that Prograis is just that bit more solid and I don't think he's hittable enough for Taylor to offset that. I think Taylor's feet will be skitting and bouncing round the ring just a little bit where Prograis takes ring centre, and that will factor into Prograis finishing stronger from expending less energy.

That’s another good point! Prograis barely breaks a sweat. He doesn’t move his, to be a loose counter-puncher you have to be so chilled and fearless. Taylor is the opposite, he bounces everywhere and loses his temper at times.
And that stride-in hook got him his first knockdown tonight, as Ivan threw a straight right. If it was a straight left he might’ve got dropped himself. It’s one of them fights, more you think less you’re sure.

Is Prog has proven as Baranchyk? But then again, Taylor hasn’t been a pro long either.
I had hoped Hooker and Ramirez has entered the tournament, would have been that much better. But hey, we getting a good final.

If it takes place in Vegas, Josh gets screwed. The home fighter always has a 3 round advantage over there thsnks to the corrupt judges.
I highly doubt it happens in LV.
Thing is I highly doubt they can get it at Hampden, Ibrox of Parkhead.
