Re: aj vs wilder who wins
Wilder's right hand is an atomic bomb.
I don't think Joshua can fade that.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
that may well be, hope they fight b4 wilders much older or 1 of them loses
Re: aj vs wilder who wins
I think you should have put efe vs joshua.
Because better chance of beating him
Because better chance of beating him
Re: aj vs wilder who wins
They both do, at the expense of our time and money. These two should already have fought. That we are still at the hypothetical stage shows how stupid we are for following this racket of a sport.
Knocking out Breazeale adds nothing to the equation. A letter jacket guy with a bit of heart and a pair of gloves, Zero head movement or skill, just raw balls and size.

Not much you can say for Ruiz or the patsy that Fury fights next either. Fatboy Ruiz weighs the same as Breazeale even though is 4-5 inches shorter!!JimStone wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 02:15 They both do, at the expense of our time and money. Nobody knows, but I will root for Joshua.
Re: aj vs wilder who wins
It’s a great fight that needs to happen. Wilders the more powerful puncher however imo it doesn’t matter. My thoughts are Wilder couldn’t take AJs power so it effectively evens things up.
Wilder seems to have the speed, AJ the defence and technique. It’s a shoot out but I’d say AJ.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
AJ will outbox him. But Wilder can land even after being outboxed, which was proved in Fury fight. And The Gypsy King is the only one out there with the miraculous chin. AJ took Klitschko's right hand, but Wilder's right hands seems to be more damaging. AJ just has a better skillset to outbox Wilder and he will do it, but he can't do only it, cause he'll get caught at some point. AJ must KO Wilder first. Wilder's chin is good, but I believe, he won't survive AJ's clean punch. If AJ is cautous early and good with his timing, he'll KO Wilder. If he waits for too long he can get KTFOed. Wilder will become more dangerous late acknowledging, that he's losing on points. I slightly favor Joshua.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
Over the last few years here on boxrec we've seen an agonisingly slow grudging change of opinion towards Deontay Wilder.
It wasn't that long ago that howls of derision were continuously hurled at him. Even now many retain serious doubts (?) and waste no opportunity to criticise him or denigrate his skills.
At 33 he may not have too long left in the game. So how about finally acknowledging his awesome skills and talent before its too late? We might not see his like again for some time and ten years from now we might be arguing that Wilder could easily take out who the current champ might be then.
That was crazy good last night. Breazeale clearly underestimated him and duly paid the price.
I don't believe Anthony Joshua can outbox him, it's way too risky given Wilder's speed and stamina. He'll have to fight fire with fire like Breazeale did, only much better.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
Wilder looked that skillful against slower and wide opened Breazeale. Just a fight ago he looked clueless vs Fury. However, I won't say, that he has no skills at all. His jab is good and fast, his one-two is polished and fast as well. His right hand is a deadly bomb, of course, and he has anthropometrics and abilities to use it. His chin and guts are decent too. But he lacks creativity, diversity. He throws combos majorly in a windmilling mode, which is pretty stupid for utilizing at the higher level, what was seen even against Breazeale.Thomastearns wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 05:46 Over the last few years here on boxrec we've seen an agonisingly slow grudging change of opinion towards Deontay Wilder.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
..AJ is a lot more versatile and has a huge punch too..should be AJ..
Re: aj vs wilder who wins
I think wilder is improving. Straight right hand no windmill. I’m picking Wilder ( and I’m British btw)
Re: aj vs wilder who wins
Wilder windmills, when he goes for the kill. He did that after he hurt Breazeale for the first time. But, yeah, the knockout one-two was perfect. Fast and precise.
Re: aj vs wilder who wins
If Wilder lands he'll knock Joshua out.
He'll show Joshua more respect than Breazeale though like he did Fury. So the pace will be quite slow with openings few and far between so Joshua might out box him.
If I was betting though I'd say Wilder by ko.

I think AJ should maybe box for the first 2 rounds keep it tight then go for the finish in the 3/4th Wilder is to dangerous to try and let it go 12 AJ should take him out earlyThomastearns wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 05:46 Over the last few years here on boxrec we've seen an agonisingly slow grudging change of opinion towards Deontay Wilder.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
If Wilder lands that right hand on Joshua's chin the way he did Breazeale's then it's goodnight Irene, however ...
Joshua will not be so easy to hit. FFS Don King wouldn't have been that easy to hit !
Joshua isn't as hard to hit as Fury, but unlike Fury, when/if he makes Wilder miss, he has the ability to make him pay. At one point even the slow and limited Breazeale clipped Deontay and made him unsteady for a second or two, Joshua wouldn't have let him off the hook.
Whenever this question comes up (as it does on a regular basis) I always reply that I envisage it ending like the Charles Martin fight. Deontay is way more dangerous than Martin, but he doesn't appear to me to be any better technically. AJ was wary of Martin's power as he was reckoned to be a decent puncher, but when the opening presented itself Joshua countered efficiently with a beautifully executed straight right which dumped a bewildered (should that be a "bejoshuaed"?
) Martin on his arse. Deontay hits harder than Joshua but Joshua hits hard enough to get the job done and has the technique to find his opponent's chin first, and to finish him off with ruthless efficiency when he does.
I wouldn't wager a whole lot of money on my expectation though, it really could go either way.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
Because Wilder hits harder, it seems some people think Joshua doesn’t hit hard enough...
He lands on Wilder, it’s game over too.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
I am not sure that Wilder hits harder, AJ and DW might be very close regarding punch power.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑19 May 2019, 07:09 Because Wilder hits harder, it seems some people think Joshua doesn’t hit hard enough...

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
I'm a massive fan of Joshua as you know and I hate Wilder (well that's what they tell me anyway, how would I be expected to know
) but I'm pretty confident that Wilder is the harder one punch hitter.
There again just because the shutter-speed of my camera is 1/7500 and yours is 1/6000 second, it doesn't mean I'm going to take a better photograph.![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
..well, there's almost always a certain euphoria right after the match once one boxer takes out the other one ....speaking of Wilder's punch let's not forget he dropped Fury twice and both times Fury got to his feet and according to many even won that fight..any reason why AJ won't be able to be at least that effective..
Re: aj vs wilder who wins
@Valmar: He took it though didn't he? It was a great shot and had I been the victim I would probably have needed to glue my head back on, but Wlad kept on his feet.
Contrast that with the shots that destroyed Szpilka, Breazeale, Fury (well nearly) and made Liakhovic do a little dance in his sleep.
Joshua is a very powerful puncher but in that department, Wilder is something rather special, I reckon.

Re: aj vs wilder who wins
There was a sequence in last night's fight where Wilder had Breazeale staggering backwards from an overhand right. Sensing an opportunity, Wilder starts windmilling away, yet despite showing pretty much zero defence, Breazeale didn't get hit once. Instead, Breazeale was the one who landed, putting Wilder on less than steady legs for a few seconds.
There's why I can't see Wilder beating Joshua. That same exchange, between Wilder and Joshua, ends with Wilder flat on his back. Barring a freak single-shot KO (which I can't see happening early, against an elite opponent), Joshua is going to have far more opportunities to lay the hurt on Wilder than vice-versa.
More opportunities + greater accuracy = one winner. People shouldn't be reading too much into how quickly Wilder got rid of Breazeale.
