" I don’t care how many 360 roundhouse kicks you can do, at the end of the day you can just [tap] and it’s over. In boxing, if you sit on your stool, you’ll never live it down the rest of your career. . . In MMA, Mr. Tap Machine Conor does it every fight. He’s done it what, three out of his last four fights? He’s not Notorious McGregor, he’s tapout McGregor but at the end of the day, he’s still the biggest star there. It’s more accepting to save your life. . . In MMA, they praise these guys. He’s over there selling whiskey and people are buying it. In boxing, if a guy quit as much as this guy quit and he tried to make any product, they’d kick him in his ass and say get the f*ck out of here with your bum product.”
Hes got a point thought. He literally got his face broken by Cotto and he kept fighting. In MMA he could have just left his neck or arm out for a couple seconds and he'd get a honorable way out. In boxing it's either quit on the stool or go down with a phantom punch. Or risk serious injury by leaving your chin out too long.

Re: Paulie getting under MMA fans' skins
MMA is a different sport and it's important to "live to fight another day".
Boxers do "quit" though, and I don't mean it in a derogatory sense either, because they often retire between rounds or they decide to rise to their feet about a split-second after the completion of the ten count (as it allows them to pretend they were willing to continue, but couldn't).
Sometimes fighters literally look to their cornermen to stop the fight when they're under unbearable pressure from their opponents'. In this situation, the trainer takes the blame rather than the fighter.
Paulie's just stirring the pot, to create controversy and grab the media headlines in order to sell his upcoming bout. I doubt he's being serious.

A simple counter argument is that boxers very often stay on their knee or take a long time to try and beat the 10 count because they don't want to continue. In MMA if you go down you better be ready to get punched a few more times before it's over.

Yep but his point is that tapping out is still a honorable way to go out. It doesnt look shady at all if you just leave your arm or neck out an extra couple of seconds. Thats all it takes for your opponent to put you in a submission and it just looks like you made a mistake. The mentioned boxing equivalents are not as glorious.
And yes BKB brought him in to make noise and make people take notice. Hes doing just that. Lobov got slapped and spat at but hes being put at the biggest spotlight he would ever be. Lobov did his part with that Jason Knight demolition derby so everything is just working perfectly for BKB to become a player at the fight sports scene.
