IMO Tucker would take decision in good fight.

Heavyweights : Tony Tucker vs. Ray Mercer
Re: Heavyweights : Tony Tucker vs. Ray Mercer
Mercer could pull out a victory. It could be similar to Tucker's Tyson bout. Tucker could be better early, but then Mercer would adapt and turn the fight in his favor.

Tucker broken arm in fight against Tyson in early rounds .
Re: Heavyweights : Tony Tucker vs. Ray Mercer
Tucker prime would outbox Mercer. Tucker was very underrated.
Re: Heavyweights : Tony Tucker vs. Ray Mercer
Tucker would win a unanimous decision in a tough fight. Mercer would make him work for it.

Tucker. Quicker. More skilled. Unanimous decision.
The best Ray Mercer would make it tough down the stretch, however. Tucker's dedication and ring focus could be questioned.

Mercer had a granite chin, that’s about all that saved him from being a journeyman. Tommy Morrison totally outclassed him and out powered him until he got caught. Luckily for him Tommy had a glass chin and Mercer had a granite one. Tucker would keep him at bay with a jab if he couldn’t land the KO.
Re: Heavyweights : Tony Tucker vs. Ray Mercer
You're selling Mercer way short here. You don't fight Holyfield and Lewis to a standstill if you're nothing but a journeyman with a chin. Mercer was a decent boxer with a good jab and I'd pick him to outpoint Tucker, who often turned very passive when he was pushed by a solid puncher.Jorgegjana416 wrote: ↑25 May 2019, 19:55 Mercer had a granite chin, that’s about all that saved him from being a journeyman.

Yes, Tucker's workrate was never great, even in his prime. Very languid character. The Mercer who fought Holyfield and Lewis would give him hell, and perhaps win.hhaehre wrote: ↑27 May 2019, 05:02 You're selling Mercer way short here. Prime Tucker scores a wide points decision. Mercer is massively overrated, especially on these forums.
