FW says three HW's offered July contest with Joe Joyce

Post by oogiebe »

allegedly said that Povetkin, Parker, and Chisora have all been offered to fight Joe Joyce in July 13th. Sam Jones came out and confirmed.

I wouldn't take it if I was any of them unless I was getting paid enough. His manager also said Kabayel also turned it down (even though Joyce is mandatory for his EBU belt?). He also mentioned Jennings, Molina and Arreola as opponents though Arreola is apparently facing Kownacki.

Didn't Warren say top 15? Doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Why would Kababyel turn it down ?!
Is he a PPV star in Germany or something ?

That's what I was thinking. He'll have to fight him at some point this year anyway as he's mandatory for his belt so i can only think the offer was awful compared to what he would get if EBU purse splits were used maybe?

I'm sure they are making offers, but who'd fight Joyce for the money being offered ?
Looks like a duck from Kabayel to me.

Apparently split would only be 60:40 in Kabayel's favour if it went to bids. Another consideration is that Kabayel might want more weeks to prepare as he's not been the most active heavyweight of late. He probably has to take a fight sooner or later though.

No I can't.
I generally get pissed off when people throw the "duck" term about - it's almost always wrong and stupid. Eg. Khan/Brook "ducking" when they both went out of their weight-class to fight monsters.

But still, unless Kabayel IS a PPV star in Germany (which we all know he isn't), then why would you turn down your mandatory and a chance to fight across European TV in front of a packed house ?

It certainly walks a bit like a duck, makes a kind of quacking noise and swims like a member of the family Anatidae....

Not offering enough money? Not enough time to train?

You're right. Kabayel can pick any reason he wants, but none will make any sense. He should fight Joyce.

Yep he should as Joyce is mandatory but he, as champion, shouldn't be forced in to less than favourable terms just because it's convenient for the challenger. But until details are known, we can't judge on this.

Szpilika and Kabayel would be good opponents, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm honestly shocked they haven't done Joyce vs. Price yet.

Kabayel must have got an offer probably unfair. The man defeated Chisora while he was younger and had less experience -yet Chisora was struggling a little bit those years, still- I don’t think he would duck Joyce.

The only (probably) reason he refused it, must be reason to avoid one-sided judges in Britain, because big possibility they will go to scorecards if this happens, and Joyce will be the winner.

Kabayel should possess more knock-out power than he has now, otherwise gonna lose in any place or event rathen than Germany.

Joyce better hope it's Chisora that answers the call of the 3 names mentioned because the other 2 are WAY more likely to beat him.

A decent scalp, and certainly the best fighter Joyce has faced. But again, levels below what FW has been blabbering about.

If that's the fight is a good one. Jennings has a solid chance of winning.

Like to see it.

Of course there's no chance in hell that it will be made.

Still waiting on that Joyce-Dubois bout that was "confirmed."

Yep.

But fighters fight so infrequently these days. It has been eight months for Povetkin since Joshua and he's not getting any younger. Work one day a year. Nice job.
