and this Dinu guy has some skills and a strong punch, and he's big, but he lacks heart so he's a danger only in the first rounds.

No, kownacki isn't deserving of anything near what whyte is. The war with .Martin was a good fight but that doesn't separate him from the pack.dagilechia wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 14:01 i just meant the records, Whyte and Kownacki are the #1 and #2 most deserving contenders basing on the records only. btw, to me Whyte isn't good, him vs Rivas is a close fight, i can imagine Kownacki beating him as well, though i would favour Whyte, 55/45.
Whyte was in close bouts vs Chisora (arguably lost the 1st one, i had Chisora ahead in the second fight as well) and in a close fight vs the worst i have ever seen version of Parker (i had 113-112 Whyte, i would favour Parker in rematch), beating Helenius is not a great achievement either, i do not even want to mention always overrated Browne. he is top 10 but he's no hoper vs the big 3. I like that he takes the risk and he's in entertaining bouts but is he really good? i do not think so. He has improved since his AJ fight, he seems better technically but still i wouldn't even favour him vs Pulev, let alone Povetkin or Ortiz.

I like fat Kow but lets be serious he is fighting prospect food.
Martin, Washington, Arreola... That would be a good run for an 8 fight novice like Hrgovic or impressive for a ~21 year old youngster like Dubois but with the current HW climate it doesn't scream 'deserves a world title shot' to me.

Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
Kownacki is another guy trying to keep his record pristine via can-crushing with the ultimate goal of winning the title shot sweepstakes. Much like Miller and Breazeale.
This is why the HW division sucks.

I wonder if there is going oto be any ped testing.
Ever since Miller got stung, I wonder about Kownacki
They are mates, train and spar together, and are both fat blobs with a great workrate, stamina and hand speed. Makes ya wonder eh?

Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
and Fury's pre-Klitschko record was comparable to Kownacki's
Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
Pretty much.
And Wilders team don't want to lose to Fury again.
Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
He's a fat guy. They don't take his title shot seriously. Getting the title shot is the pinnacle of achievement for a guy like him in this sport. If he wants more, someone needs to tell him to get in shape.
You don't see Fat world class athletes in sports where you actually have to move a lot. Golf or Bowling maybe, but that's it.

Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
Not really. Who is Kownacki's best win? Szpilika? Fury had 4 wins better than that before he fought Wlad.
Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
Just Whyte, arguably Ortiz maybe, but Kownacki is one of the more deserving contenders I suppose. Not that I give him much chance against any of the Big 3.dagilechia wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 15:33 who is more deserving of a title shot than Kownacki (except Whyte)?
Ortiz has kinda been just waiting around hoping he'd get another shot based on how good he did the 1st time he got a shot. Which is fair enough actually because he did give Wilder one of his toughest fights to date, but still...
I'd love to see Usyk get a title shot, but he's gotta get a few wins under his belt at the weight first. He'd school a guy like Kownacki though.
Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
Charles Martin is his best win. Or Gerald Washington.jujigatame wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 16:03 Not really. Who is Kownacki's best win? Szpilika? Fury had 4 wins better than that before he fought Wlad.

I don't think either of those guys is better than Szpilika but my point stands regardless. Those are not wins that warrant a shot at AJ or Wilder or Fury. Contenders refusing to fight other contenders is what sucks the life out of this sport.

Chisora... who else? 17-3 Hammer who's best wins were Leif Larsen and Kevin Johnson?jujigatame wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 16:03 Not really. Who is Kownacki's best win? Szpilika? Fury had 4 wins better than that before he fought Wlad.
Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
They're no worse than Szpilka. I won't say they're definitely better, but they're at least equal wins with Szpilka.jujigatame wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 16:12 I don't think either of those guys is better than Szpilika but my point stands regardless. Kownacki's record isn't good that's obvious...i just say that in this piss poor division he has one of the best record among the contenders who never got a titleshot so far.

I expect K to blow A away a la Wahington.
Re: Kownacki Vs Arreola - 3rd Aug
This is true. I currently have him ranked #7. Which is really more of a comment on the division itself than Kownacki's skill, but indeed he's doing more than other contenders at the moment so until he either loses or somebody else steps up, and starts beating better guys he's a contender.dagilechia wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 16:17 Kownacki's record isn't good that's obvious...i just say that in this piss poor division he has one of the best record among the contenders who never got a titleshot so far.
The fight with Arreola should be fun.

Chisora twice, Hammer, and Cunningham were all better wins than any of Kownacki's.dagilechia wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 16:15 Chisora... who else? 17-3 Hammer who's best wins were Leif Larsen and Kevin Johnson?![]()
