Chisora vs Szpilka in talks

Post by dagilechia »

Interesting fight, of course Chisora is the favourite, but i like this match-up. Thoughts?

I don’t think Szpilka has it anymore. He’s a tough brawler, but his chins been cracked. It would be a good action fight while it lasted though!

People were saying the same about Chisora and then he was in a razor close fight vs Whyte and defeated Takam! Though i agree that Szpilka's chin and lacks in defense is a problem probably impossible to overcome, to improve in those aspects.

Chisora has a good punching power but far from very good, imo. He knocked out Takam but it was more a result of Takam's gassing out i think. Chisora KO Szpilka seems the most likely result but there are still decent chances that other outcome will occur. Szpilka was almost knocked out vs Wach but he survived and deserved the close decision (and this was a much better version of Wach than the version which lost recently to Bakole) maybe he will survive vs Chisora as well.

This fight is supposed to take place in London.

Chisora was never that good to begin with. He’s busy, which will give Arthur problems. It’s pretty even fight between guys on the same level.

Yeah, agreed with all what you said. For Szpilka, it's the last chance to get to the top 15 or even top 10 so he will be motivated and i have no doubts in that he believes he can defeat Del Boy! :bag: :box:

It’s a winnable fight for Chisora, but he was overweight and performed terribly during his most recent outing against Senad Gashi.

I haven’t seen Artur Szpilka fight for a couple of years, so I’m not really qualified to critique his current boxing ability, but I suspect that David Haye has hand-picked the Pole to lose and make his fighter look good.

Well it all depends how sharp will Chisora come to fight. Szpilka is a good fight for him to get back in the mix for bigger fights. I think Szpilka is going to retire soon (3-5 more fights). But I could be wrong maybe Szpilka wants to make a statment and get back in the mix. Well we shall see, but the loser will fall on gatekeeper kind of level so its quite of a risky fight. But personally Chisora grabs this one :box:

And for the date... it would be a great to see this fight on Whyte vs Rivas undercard :OhYes:

Good fight in my opinion. Two very different styles. If Chisora gets into the shape he was for Whyte 2 then he should be favourite. I think his gameplan would also be very important in this fight also.

It looks like Szpilka is a wanted opponent at the moment as Joyce was also in talks to face him.

Chisora should win this. But provided that he does, it would be his third best win.

It's not clear to me what this fight really accomplishes, as both of these fighters are way too tested by now. For outcomes that make a difference, they should be fighting less tested opponents, like Joyce - Chisora and Wallin - Szpilka. Which, btw, I have to think that, in the near future, Joyce - Chisora or Joyce - Hughie would probably draw pretty good money.

If Szpilka loses then he's career is done and he will most likely start to fight celebrities in MMA in Poland. You are right on that Szpilka wants to make a statement and get back in the mix, his promoter wanted him to fight someone weak after Wach, Szpilka doesn't agree on that.

A pretty even fight. But Szpilka is more shabby and his chin isn't very good, so Chisora gotta be a favourite.

I remember watching Szpilka fighting Mike Mollo (who put him over) and him being billed as 6'5".

He's really not a big guy at all is he, going by these photos.

Szpilka is 6'3'' at best and he started his career at cruiserweight (had he continued there he could get the title imo) and just like jamamb said, he started to fight at HW when he was released from prison in 2011
