Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
If he fights this much in 2019 I'd bet money on them having a combined Boxrec rating of over 1,000.
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
He's a quiet guy who has fought predominantly anonymous opponents that nobody has heard of, and has looked poor when fighting anybody with a name. He doesn't have the attributes of size or punching power to excite most fans and he's completely risk adverse. People complain about his cousin being boring in the ring but Tyson drops his hands and showboats against monster punchers like Wlad and Wilder. Huey doesn't really have much 'style' to his style. To top it off, he's skinny-fat and covered in zits which is unfortunate for a sport where you compete with your top off.Steveh583 wrote: ↑21 May 2019, 02:18 I've always quite enjoyed 5s coverage.
Also not quite sure why hughie fury gets so much hate. A REALLY young pup who has already travelled to face pulev and had a crack at a world title vs Parker, in a fight he made very close. It's not like he's an arrogant, mouthy twat or completely without skill.
Also, his dad does most of the talking for him and Peter Fury is something of a Marmite character. His training videos have always looked like some sort of 'People Just Do Nothing' style fly on the wall spoof of a bunch of incompetent boxers and so you have to wonder whether it was Tyson who made the trainer rather than the other way around. Have any other good fighters actually come out of that gym? Eddie Chambers appeared to regress there.
I'm not going to dig him out about the PED's because they're all on them.
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
Will he have 4 more in his career never mind this year
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
Huighie has completely swerved every force in British HW boxing, wont get my respect until he fights British fighters. Get fed up of Peter doing a sales job on him.

I agree with that. He’s only really fought Sexton. And when Tyson won his world titles. Hughie has like 20 fights and thought he was good enough. His team just believed in him. Well he’s lost to 2 world contenders. He’s had his world title fight. Got paid decent money for that too.
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
Peter goes on about him like he is the second coming, think he needs to wake up and realise his son is not all that at allRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 06:50 I agree with that. I don't understand the interest in this man. Six years a pro and the only Names he's been in with are the two that beat him. Otherwise he boxes opponents you can't believe are still fighting (Guinn) or literally no one has ever heard of before (all the others). Doesn't that tell you everything you need to know about Hughie, and what his team think of his ability?
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
I dunno...
He's 24, very experienced and - when he puts it together - there's some real talent there.
I get why Parker got the nod, but Hughie made him look stupid for 12 rounds.

Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
He needs a different trainer - he looked no different against Pulev than he did against fat American midgets on the way up. Hardly any development at all. No left hook, no straight right, telegraphs everything that isn't a jab, struggles to hold his feet and counter.
It's a shame because there are definitely bits of a world-class boxer in there - footwork, ability to judge distance, a very fast jab - but we'll never see whether they can be moulded into a complete fighter so long as Peter is at the helm.

Let’s not forget the ATG tough journeyman Fred Kassioverhand_right wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 11:14 I don't understand the interest in this man. Do u feel that way about joe Joyce as well? Or is he exempt cos he faces bigger 'world' names? Serious question, not trolling.

Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
I think with Joyce, he’s rightly being fast tracked. I don’t think he minds fighting Domestic opponents as long as they’re ‘some sort of threat’.. but really, he wants a world title shot. TBF, Joyce is facing decent opposition, not his fault if some boxers don’t want to fight him.
With Hughie, he has no real excuse. He’s 24, hasn’t fought a decent domestic opponent and fought 2 world class boxers, who he lost to.
Why’s he rushing? He turned pro at a really young age. He isn’t gonna be the youngest ever HW champion now. He tried and failed.
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
I don't think much of Hughie. There's nothing particularly special about him as a fighter.
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
he has the best air jab in boxing
Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
Yeah, he’ll probably fight Billy Joe, Gary Russel and Demetrius Andrade.
Just don’t see this happening.

Good points. Can't really argue with that at all.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑22 May 2019, 18:11 I think with Joyce, he’s rightly being fast tracked. Realistically where does he fit into the scene? Can you see a PPV show being built around him? To me he is a B-side fighter like Glen Johnson was. Good, solid fighter but of no real appeal.

Joyce is quite a bit older and knows he needs to get as many big fights as he can. No I dont feel the same about Joyce because he hasnt been around that long so you cant compare to Hughie. Hughie has been around ages and still hasnt fought any major British name. In fact he has dodged the likes of Whyte etc but still his old man tells us he is the 2nd coming

Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
Hughie Fury will happily fight Deontay Wilder later this year
“If he’s looking for an opponent this year, Hughie will step up and fight him, no problem,” Peter told Boxing News this week.
“You can print this now: If Wilder needs an opponent because he can’t get whoever they’re trying to get, Hughie will step in and fight him this year. It’s an easy fight to make. Hughie would fight him in a heartbeat.
“Hughie is not avoiding anyone. He will take on all the top contenders. If Wilder is looking for an opponent, that’s a fight Hughie would take 100%.”
Ever the realist, Peter Fury is a great believer in his son’s abilities but cognisant all the same of Wilder’s power and Hughie’s underdog status in any potential fight between the two.
He knows there is plenty for Hughie to work on and knows that defeats to Joseph Parker and Kubrat Pulev need to be seen, on reflection, as learning experiences rather than as being indicative of Hughie’s ceiling in the sport. If this proves to be the case, fights against the likes of Wilder won’t be beyond his reach.
“Hughie would be an underdog, but I think he’s on the verge of doing special things and I don’t talk lightly,” Peter said. “Let’s get Saturday out the way, then get a good opponent for July or September, and if Wilder wants that fight towards the end of the year, or even in September, we would look at it.”
“I know Wilder has got extreme power in both hands and is a hell of a puncher,” said Fury, “but Breazeale was tailor-made for him. He came in, his head didn’t move, and he let him tee off.
“Taking Wilder’s shots and saying ‘that’s not hurting me’ means nothing. You’re still there taking them. That’s why it ended in one round. I don’t think it was so much a case of how spectacular Wilder is. It had more to do with how poorly Breazeale went about it. He was basically walking into the road and stepping in front of a truck. He got clipped and that was the end of it.
“What I will say about Breazeale is he has a very good chin and did well to get up from the knockout shot. He took a thunderous right hand and managed to get up from it. He deserves a lot of credit for that. But there wasn’t a lot of thought process in his game plan.”

Re: Hughie Fury to fight another four times this year
I wonder how much of Hughie's purse Peter takes.
Seem's like he's always talking Hughie up for big fights, were he could get a decent purse.
