Although Thurman only looked like poo in 1 round. Everyone seems to forget that he otherwise dominated the Lopez bout. Even after a 2 year injury layoff.

Thurman is the real deal. Only Spence beats him. Aged Pacquiao is just a nice payday and a glossy name to put on your resume.
Only he didn't take that much of a beating from Horn. As memory serves me correct, Pacquiao almost stopped him and one of the rounds. He arguably won the fight. On top of that, Thurman fights NOTHING like Horn. A trainer once said that Thurman fights like Acelino Freitas and now after comparing their youtube videos, I can't unsee it.

Pacquiao deserved the win.

But he was physically battered in that fight. Looked like a 38 year old fighter.

Bullied and bruised.

Bloodied. Exhausted.

Easy wins over Matthysse and Broner have caused fans to conveniently forget how much trouble the unknown Horn caused Pacquiao.

Thurman is light years better than Horn. Pacquiao will soon wish he retired after Horn exposed how the years were beginning to add up.

Again, Thurman doesn't even fight like Horn. He fights like Acelino Freitas. That's a flawed style that gives look of having good defense that isn't there.

And Pacquiao is much better than Lopez who was 10 seconds shy of stopping Thurman.

So what? Those 10 seconds never came.

Fighters always face adversity. It means nothing as long as you survive and prosper.

Whenever Thurman has been in trouble, he has always weathered the storm and come back. The sign of a champion.

Pacquiao has been knocked cold by a fighter who cut his teeth at 126. He didn't weather the storm.

It seems unreasonable to believe that a senior citizen such as Pacquiao can stand up to Thurman's thunder.

Thurman will rise to the occasion.
We have seen other fighters come back from layoffs looking a bit naff, then stepping it up for the big fights- Tyson Fury proved that :OhYes:

Do I think he has a chance?? I expect him to win. He is a very solid, safety first fighter who is bigger and longer than Pacquiao. I expect him to box from distance looking to counter against the smaller man...Not sure how Pacquiao is supposed to stop that from happening against a large, skilled opponent? Barring Thurman becoming old and shot overnight, he should be able to box his way to a win here.

Interesting story, I was talking to a friend about this fight and the first thing he mentioned was Thurman's power! The urban legend surrounding this guys punching power is nothing short of amazing.. :OhYes:

... Is the correct answer.

Thurman is one of the best welters around, and Pacman is about as old as videogame Pacman. Despite Manny's undoubted greatness I think I'd pick Thurman now provided he's shed the rust.

Yeah he has a solid chance but if his defense is like the Lopez fight, he's in trouble. PAC will land and if he wobbles, swarm him.

It goes both way gents.

Manny is better than Lopez or Collazo and both of those guys seriously hurt Thurman

Thurman is younger, fresher, longer, and probably has quicker feet and general mobility.

Still think Thurman is going to cave when Manny touches him and Manny is a far better boxer than he gets credit for...very, very crafty

So Freddie Roach likes Pacquiao.

Shocking. He better say that if he wants to keep his job.

Thurman will cave when he feels Pacquiao's power? The same power that has accounted for 1 knockout victory in his last 15 fights over nearly a decade?

Roach is full of it.

Sure, it's not like Lopez and Collazo was KOing people left and right. Just because someone doesn't have knockouts doesn't mean you won't get hurt. Nobody's walking through Pacquiao's shots.

Not to mention Broner fought a very spoiling style. He back pedaled the entire fight and kept trying to land counter power punches. Manny knew he had to be cautious with that style, but still pressed the action and landed more overall punches as well as every significant punch.

Thurman is much more mobile than Broner and doesn't "sit on his shots" the way Broner does/tried to. That's kind of why Thurman hasn't hurt a top opponent....maybe, ever? And Thurman's defense is severely overrated. Even an old Manny will be able to demonstrate that.

Look for Thurman to jab and circle a lot, to backup a lot and attempt to work off the counter like Floyd/AB did/tried to. It's funny that people use the Floyd "blueprint" despite the fact that fight was very close. Sure it might've been 10-2, but none of those rounds were lopsided. They were all closely contested where Floyd's spoiling tactics was just a bit better.

One would think more people would go the JMM route as JMM was arguably 3-0-1 with Manny including the clear, decisive win.

Manny on points if judging is fair

Senora Pipina  Even if a 30 y/o Thurman wins against a 40 y/o Pacquiao is still a 'poo' win. Winning vs a 10 y older past fighter ain't nothing to brag about. Let's if Thurman will square off vs Spence ? :OhYes:
