Ito hasn’t not taken Herring seriously.
Just wanted to say, i’m picking Herring for the win here.
Ito is looking a bit silly.

Round 9 is a toss up. Ito making it dirty.
Lots of inside work now.
Herring is what 33? Ito is physically in his prime.

Herring really tired. I have a feeling he may not get a decision that he’ll deserve. Who knows how the judges see it. Will end up being close cards.

Herring takes round 10.
I think he took his foot off the gas on purpose so he can gear up for the championship rounds.

Official Result: Jamel Herring defeated Masayuki Ito by unanimous decision (116-112, 118-110, 118-110) to become the new WBO super featherweight world champion.
A potential showdown against WBC champion Miguel Berchelt could be next.
Very decent scorecards. No way Ito won more than 4 rounds.

Re: Masayuki Ito vs. Jamel Herring - May 25, 2019
Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee - In a magical night, Jamel Herring (20-2, 10 KOs) pulled off the upset with a twelve round unanimous decision over Masayuki Ito (25-2-1, 13 KOs) to capture the WBO super featherweight title. The scores were 116-112, 118-110, 118-110.
Coming in, Herring won three in a row since losing a ten round decision to Ladarius Miller in August 2017.
In his first defeat in 2016, Herring was dropped and later knocked out by Denis Shafikov in ten rounds.
Ito won the title in July 2018 when he dropped and battered Christopher Diaz over twelve rounds. He retained the belt with a seventh round knockout of Evgeny Chuprakov.
Herring controlled the first round with his boxing and his accurate shots. Ito came back in the second, landing the harder punches to push Herring back.
The third round was close, with Herring jabbing and boxing, while Ito was putting together the hard combinations.
As the rounds played out, the movement and jab of Herring was giving Ito a lot of trouble. Ito was trying too hard to land his big shots and missing wildly. Ito had some success in the sixth round, with the right hand landing well. Herring still had it razor close with his boxing.
Herring was digging to the body in the eight, as they were trading punches at close range. They were exchanging shots with Herring getting the better of the action. Ito seemed to edge out the ninth round, as Herring was slowing down or taking a round off.
Herring went back to his boxing in the tenth, moving and jabbing as Ito pressed forward. The counters continued to work over Ito in the eleventh, as the Japanese banger could not get off with his shots.
Both boxers were fighting hard in the final round, with the action being very close to the final bell.
