Question A: How are the rankings affected by 🇺🇸 Michael Hunter's (#15) KO 2 win over 🇧🇷 Fabio Maldonado (unranked, BoxRec's #349)?

My vote: Hunter to #12, Maldonado remains unranked.

Shame on anyone who would move a fighter up for these pathetic wins.

Why not to move Hunter up? Breazeale has a recent loss and even a more pathetic win before that with some inactivity prior to it. Kabayel has a couple of more pathetic wins, where only Chisora was really good, while Chisora himself now has a more pathetic win with a loss prior to it.

Ratings only matter if they are acted on. Trouble is the top 10 seems far too static. Can't even blame Fury for that anymore, as it's now a different traffic jam. No longer his doing, though his fight is a sick joke after facing Wilder.

Filip Hrgovic is the new exciting kid on the block and he's heading up as fast as Hearn can match him. Unfortunately beating Joyce won't do much for either of them. Still, he needs fights and if Joyce is willing.. why not?

So the real 50/50 matchup is Whyte v Rivas in about 8 weeks time. AJ gets a pass this time because of the cheating Miller but it really is high time that the top 3 all followed Whyte's example regularly fought top rated rivals.

White easily has the best recent resume - Chisora, Parker and now Rivas.

Anyone that thinks the results of these two fighters move them UP for facing 'extremely weak opposition' should hold their head in shame. This is exactly what ABC sanctioning bodies do, move fighters up for no real reason.

People are talking here, as if Breazeale's and Chisora's last wins were over highly ranked guys. In addition to that Chisora lost a fight before his last one and Breazeale lost the last one, while Hunter is on a winning streak. And btw Hunter most likely will whoop both Chisora and Breazeale. And Kabayel too. Hunter must be ranked higher, than those fellas.

Where did u get those rankings from? They are not the current Boxrec international heavyweight rankings. Boxrec has Hrgovic ranked #15 right behind Andy Ruiz. Hunter is #37.

These were voted on by the forum members.
I believe 15 and 37 to be more accurate than where they are listed on here.

Oh.

I usually agree with the Boxrec rankings. They are certainly not perfect but are far better than the alphabets silly ranking, or popularity voting as well.

:TU:
Yes these turn into what pollsters call terrorist voting. You up vote your favorite and down grade your least favorite.
Unless 100's are voting you don't get a fair result

We can reasonably debate whether Hunter is better than Breazeale. He might be, but his resume does not support that. Either way, there was already a previous vote where boxrec members had the opportunity to move Breazeale below Hunter if they felt that was where his loss should place him.

Hunter's resume is still much worse than Kabayel's, and a win over Fabio Maldanado doesn't change that. Dereck Chisora would be like a 1:100 favorite over Maldanado.

Be that as it may, Breazeale's best win is still the unknown Ugonoh. Admittedly a difficult comparison, but Hunter gets a win which is is probably comparable with some of Breazeale's best performances.

Neither Breazeale's loss to Wilder (second or third best HW in the world) nor Hunter's win over Maldonado (complete rubbish) indicates that Hunter can beat Breazeale, or should be moved ahead of him.
