Shannon Briggs
He won again last night, would be interesting if he got a chance against Wladimir Klitschko, can't see it happening though

If there is any heavy less deserving of a title shot at the minute its Briggs he has been fighting guys that shouldnt be in the same ring as him for a few years now and calling it a winning streak!!
Any fighter that has fallen so far has to go on a stacy goodson card and be handed a 1st round ko would get mullered by wlad.

Not too sure about that. He was 273 for Wednesdays fight and was apparently blowing after 2 rounds with a complete stiff. Unless he KO'd Valuev early he'd lose.Lenny Albert wrote:I dunno, i'd maybe back him against Valuev but wouldn't make him favorite against Rahman, Maskaev, Lyakhovich or Brewster.
What's his ranking like, is he close to getting a shot at any of the champs?
Lets not forget Briggs has never really beaten anyone decent, his decision over Foreman was bullshit he lost that fight.

Who is a elite heavy nowadays
No one!!!
Wlad has only got a 1-2 and really just a strait right, predictable and a glass chin.
Rahman has no real boxing ability - just strong and punches
Toney isn't a heavyweight - just a fat unfit pisstake to boxing
Lyakovich is pretty average
Valuev is awful - cannot box or fight, just big - ruiz did honestly beat him
Briggs has always had a stamina problem and unfit, in good shape he is the best technically out there, boxing ability wise.
But early on he could KO / definately be better than whats around at moment
If his up for it I think he can win a world title and bring some life into the shittest heavyweight division in the history of boxing, because his a character / entertaining and fights from his heart. Imagine if he was WBC Champ not Rahman, the interest in the heavyweight scene would go up
Watch the fight he had against Lennox and then speak. He is still a proper contender!! and quite a good puncher.

No way briggs is a contender for anything at the minute he would get eaten alive by any of the top guys you mentioned hell even in his prime he couldnt stay at the top when he was in shape! Hes older, heavier and hasnt faced any decent competition in five years.Boxing Addict wrote:Who is a elite heavy nowadays

Wlad is the best technical genuine heavy around by miles briggs would get his boots smoked if they met.

Is that the same Wlad that was KO'd by Sanders, Couldn't stand up after 5 rounds of a fight he was winning against Brewster and got decked everytime Samuel Peter connected with his chin?achybreaky wrote:No way briggs is a contender for anything at the minute he would get eaten alive by any of the top guys you mentioned hell even in his prime he couldnt stay at the top when he was in shape! Yeah its the same guy these fights have no bearing on his technical abilities though do they now.topper123 wrote:Is that the same Wlad that was KO'd by Sanders, Couldn't stand up after 5 rounds of a fight he was winning against Brewster and got decked everytime Samuel Peter connected with his chin?achybreaky wrote:No way briggs is a contender for anything at the minute he would get eaten alive by any of the top guys you mentioned hell even in his prime he couldnt stay at the top when he was in shape! Sanders caught him with some big shots that a lot of heavys would have had trouble handling. Brewster was getting his head punched off him and if his chin wasnt as good as it is he would have been knocked out early but he got the win in the 5th which some people seem to think is a bit fishy (im not one of them though he won fair and square) but then lets leave that to the conspiracy theorists.
Somebody should tell samuel PETER that the chin is at the front of the head and not the back cos he didnt connect with wlads chin once.
I never said his chin was the best i said his technical skills were.

Its quite possible but then anybody can be knocked out when the big boys are in there. Wlad has improved quite a bit defensively but there will always be the doubts about his chin.topper123 wrote:I have a great deal of respect for Wlad, anyone that can come back from those 2 defeats and win a title deserves it. But i'm convinced that the next time a world class puncher lands on his chin he is going to be KO'd.
Rubbish, Wlad has a good left hook and is pretty good at left hookin off a jab thats more than a 1-2.Boxing Addict wrote:Who is a elite heavy nowadays
