Algieri won the 3rd, 4th and 5th with a KD for me.
He's surely ahead.

Tommy Coyle is such great value

On the bravery scale, Coyle is literally the opposite end of the spectrum to Amir Khan.

Oh that's a bit of a shame to stop it there.

Brilliant from Jamie Moore there.

Coyle could continue, but that's the sort of fight - a really close greulling battle against a light puncher - that leaves permanent damage.

You think?

Thought he looked finished walking back to his corner, thought it was a good stoppage myself.

Hearn sorted Coyle out, getting him a decent fight at MSG.

Good call from Jamie Moore.. It was gonna be one-sided from there.

Madison Square Garden, New York City - Former world champion Chris Algieri (24-3, 9 KOs) recovered from an early scare, by dropping and eventually stopping Tommy Coyle (25-5, 12 KOs).

After Algieri controlled the pace in the first when came out being aggressive - which is something he doesn't usually do.

But that aggression came back to haunt him, because there was heavy drama in the second when Coyle rocked Algieri with a big counter. Algieri was backed up against the ropes with Coyle working him over with heavy shots to the head and body.

Algieri was forced to fight his way out of trouble and survive the drama. At the start of the third, Algieri came back out with his new aggressive nature - coming forward and looking for a fight.

In the fourth, Algieri dropped Coyle with heavy shots to the body. Coyle was in pain, but he managed to get back to his feet. He came back firing at Algieri, who was happy to trade punches with him on the inside.

Both had their moments in the fifth, with Algieri having the edge in landed punches. As they entered the seventh round, both of Algieri's eyes were swollen and bruised.

Algieri began to really punish Coyle as the rounds played out, which eventually forced the corner of Coyle to call the fight at the end of the eight round.

Seems honest too. Lots of fighters lie about being hurt.
