I don't think it's in Ruiz's nature to show up to lose. On reflection I wouldn't be surprised if he makes some interesting things happen tonight.

Does Joshua take a punch as well as Parker? Ruiz did seem to ring his bell a couple of times.
Wow am I going to be dining off this for a while.

Are you getting a 65" TV in honour of Andy Ruiz's waist size?

I hope you rename your living room 'The Andy Ruiz Suite'!

I'd happily name it that, Andy Ruiz is a great champion. Not only first Mexican HWCotW, but he scoops 3 belts in doing so.

Yep, I revised my opinion earlier after rewatching Parker/Ruiz. He throws fast combos, so you better have a solid chin, as Parker does, if you're going to stand and mix it up with him. Ruiz will down you like a bottle of Corona.

ruiz doesnt really have mad skills, he was pretty sloppy and hittable himself , but had faster hands and had those combos hurting aj

He has mad skills for a heavyweight. Great head movement; hand and foot speed; great combinations and counterpunching. That coupled with a chinny opponent gave us a tremendous upset this evening.

disagree, hes sloppy a lot of the time and was tonight in quite a number of spots too (and he did get put on his ass for all that supposed great d), but he had his fast hands rolling and was hurtin aj all the time, i dont think that was really mad skills though, it was more athletic attributes tbh

You have to know how to use those attributes in the ring. For that you need skill. He's not a Kownacki. He was measured and moved and setup his shots. I was really impressed by that. If he is (as you say) sloppy and easy to hit, then AJ must be total crap.

he overwhelmed aj with those fast combos that hurt him, but i didnt think it was particularly skillful. and for this excellent head movment he was down as early as round 3. lol funny how 1 fight changes things so much, now ruiz is this fantastic fighter when we were not puffing him up beforehand at all. joe parkers stock go up even though he lost to aj too lol

I always appreciated Ruiz as a fighter. I never expected this though. Although I did call this the most likely upset in another thread and explained my reasoning, so yeah. The only thing that changed is that AJ isn't the fighter we all thought. Not even close. Ruiz exposed that tonight. Ruiz is still the same fighter he was before. so no LOL on that point.

Can't say he's better until he beats him. I don't play the triangulation game. I grew up on Ali/frazier/Foreman and Norton, so that'll never work.

I don’t particularly care for either fighter, but I love it when boxing gives us an upset like this. Pleased too, to see Ruiz become the first HW champion of Mexican descent.

I reckon, though, that we’ll see stories of a troubled camp for AJ emerge over the next few days, perhaps an illness picked up towards the end but he didn’t want to disappoint the fans etc, etc...
