HW needs Usyk
HW needs Usyk
Today proved why the HW division needs Usyk.
The WBA/IBF/WBO champion is a cocky weight lifter that just got beat by a an overweight mexican
The WBC champ is an unskilled haymaker football player
The best of the division is fat fury
This division needs the light. It needs USyk.

Re: HW needs Usyk
No the division got exactly what it needed tonight. An upset
It's boring as hell won The same guy on top like Klitscho was.
We have some very evenly matched heavyweight fighters right now and anything is possible.
This just adds more excitement

Re: HW needs Usyk
I agree... imom now Fury is #1 and his biggest danger is usyk
Re: HW needs Usyk
Usyk needs to give Breidas a rematch over that controversial win.
Re: HW needs Usyk
i agree again Briedis is imo the best CW now that Usyk moved up and is a good fight at HW for Usyk... Briedis imo was always the dark horse of the CW after seeing perform in bigger is better tournaments. briedis always showed great hand skills and imo was undefeated in those (the loss in croatia was bs)
Re: HW needs Usyk
FFS Usyk hasn't even fought at HW yet! LMAO!
Re: HW needs Usyk
He did at WSB and vs good opposition... he fought the top CWs in the backyards and won... rather easy too except Briedis who is also a good HW... It's stupid easy to project he will have success at HW... he fought there vs talents and did very well!
Re: HW needs Usyk
Not easy to predict against the very top. WSB isn't the pros and was six years ago. If predicting were easy, AJ would still be champion. I'm sure you figured Usyk would beat all HW's except AJ, until now. So let's wait until Usyk fights a top 15 HW before he's anointed.

Usyk will be a very real threat to the boys at the top. Believe that Oogs. I ain't saying he beats 'em, but he will make his presence felt in the division without a doubt. Worst case scenario he gives at least one of them hell in a losing effort.oogiebe wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 01:18 Not easy to predict against the very top. WSB isn't the pros and was six years ago. Re: HW needs Usyk
No need to treat HW different than other divisions. When the universally recognized number one moves up a class it is quite easy to predict that they will add positively to the landscape of their new division. HW is absolutely awful and clearly Usyk will make it better regardless of whether he becomes a champ or not.oogiebe wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 01:18 Not easy to predict against the very top. He'll add some interest yes. I'll wait until I see him fight at the weight before I make an opinion on his success factor. But yes, you CAN treat HW different than the others when moving up because there is no weight limit. The differential is massive.punchoutsb wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 01:22 No need to treat HW different than other divisions. Re: HW needs Usyk
If he were scheduled to fight Deontay Wilder in his first fight at the weight, I'd pick Usyk. Let's put it that way.
And no this is not saying he'd DEFINITELY beat Wilder, I'm just saying that I'm that confident in Usyk's abilities, and where he stands among the best of the Heavyweights.
That being said, it's obviously the smarter managerial move NOT to do that, and if I were Usyk's manager I definitely wouldn't leap that far, that fast. Takam was about the right type of guy for dipping your toes into the division. As accomplished as Usyk is though, there's really no need to test the waters any further than that. After Takam he may as well go for the big fights, because he's prime, and polished, and as prepared as he's ever gonna be for any of those guys right now IMO.
Plus he's one of those guys who truly seems to want to test himself so I think it's actually more likely of him getting beat or looking lackluster in an uninspired matchup rather than when he's really up against it.

Re: HW needs Usyk
Did you for Crawford or Loma?
It’s clearly premature to say he’ll be the man at heavyweight, but it’s also pretty easy to see that someone of his caliber will be successful in this abysmal division.

I'll wait to see him vs bigger men.gilgamesh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 01:29 If he were scheduled to fight Deontay Wilder in his first fight at the weight, I'd pick Usyk. Let's put it that way.

Just being prudent. Don't make a fuss because I disagree on making prognostications on his value to the HW division before seeing him at that weight. You may be right. You may be wrong (hell, did you pick Ruiz over AJ?) I'm saying too soon to say how good he'll be there. Late...going to bed.punchoutsb wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 01:31 Did you for Crawford or Loma?

Re: HW needs Usyk
now i'd favour Usyk over Joshua and Wilder, Usyk vs Fury would be a very intriguing match-up, 50/50 (Fury has the size factor though)
