Never underestimate your opponent!
Never underestimate your opponent!
Today everybody had a lesson that every time you underestimate your opponent, you may lose and just as happened to Tyson, Joshua was the person of the time and even if the bout wasn't stopped, he possibly would lose in other RD by KO as he was a bit off from himself (it was quite visible) than Ruiz, who was ok.
Joshua doesn't seem have not trained as he should be, was slower, with fewer combinations, crap guard and overall defense, general poor offense etc. etc. etc, in general, a shame for what he is... and thought about fighting Wilder? Poor fool, he would have lost much worse with what he presented today, was less than 1/3 when was vs Klitchko or Povetkin.
This is definitely a nice and great lesson for NEVER undestimating your opponent, Joshua's arrogance paid for it ... And more, that bout of Ruiz vs Parker, Parker lost with 1-2 points in favor Ruiz, just re-watch and analyse carefully...

One thing we can learn from history is that we never learn anything from history.
This was Lewis V Rahman all over again.
Also, to all the lovers of marinating fights; this is what happens when you don't put on fights when they're hot.
The Joshua/Wilder superfight is done now.
Yes, they may still end up fighting and Joshua could regain the titles and it could be for all four main belts, but the fight will never be as big as it would have been in 2018 or early 2019.

Yep. 2 undefeated Heavyweight Champions with an over 90% KO ratio is never gonna happen again in any of our lifetimes.Syntax Error wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 01:13 One thing we can learn from history is that we never learn anything from history.

I thought that Parker v Ruiz Jr was a draw, which meant it was always going to go to Parker.imaioral wrote: ↑01 Jun 2019, 23:52 Today everybody had a lesson that every time you underestimate your opponent, you may lose and just as happened to Tyson, Joshua was the person of the time and even if the bout wasn't stopped, he possibly would lose in other RD by KO as he was a bit off from himself (it was quite visible) than Ruiz, who was ok.

True but I am happy this happened. Boxing just took a huge adrenaline shot in the arm. Rematch Mexico City anyone?Syntax Error wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 01:13 One thing we can learn from history is that we never learn anything from history.

Ruiz Jr. just supplanted Canelo.
Re: Never underestimate your opponent!
If he successfully defends the belt, and gets to have a title defense next Cinco de Mayo it'll be a huge event for sure. He'll have to get by AJ a 2nd time first though me thinks.
Re: Never underestimate your opponent!
Joshua never underestimated Ruiz JR.
Only ignorant fans...

Re: Never underestimate your opponent!
I actually don't think, that Joshua was underestimating Ruiz, he just did a huge and shameful mistake in the process of the fight. Joshua looked, as he was praparing for the bout as usual, he started the fight in the proper way, but then he made a foolish mistake and all his drawbacks came on the surface after he had been pulled out of his comfort zone.
Re: Never underestimate your opponent!
Just read the links, think a bit and don't defend him, Joshua obviously underestimated Ruiz...

Re: Never underestimate your opponent!
You know I think he did even if he truly believes he didn't. He knew Andy was a good fighter but he's beaten quite a few of those and his mind was, I suspect, on Wilder.
Wilder destroyed Breazeale and looked pretty damn impressive. Joshua was under pressure, not just to beat the little pudgy guy, but to look good doing it. His first fight out of the UK as a pro, his first in New York, in the USA, his first for DAZN.
He put down the extremely punch-resistant Ruiz in round 3 with a superb right uppercut, left hook combination and had he not gone for the grandstand finish he might well have done as he did to Povetkin, or as he did to Parker.
Still, as my mother-in-law used to say "If ifs and buts were pots and pans there'd be no work for tinkers".
Re: Never underestimate your opponent!
No doubt. Even the great Ali with Norton I.
