I love it.
I love that AJ's reputation is in tatters. I love that he and Wilder have lost what would have been a massive payday. I love that Hearn's golden goose has lost his head.
Plus, upsets like this are what makes boxing great. So it's a great night for the sport too.

They let it marinate too long. It’s lost most of its’ value.
It’s nice to see the big boys lose, but ultimately we all lose. Hope this ends up making the fights easier to make.

I think many will feel that AJ needed putting in his place, and wanted Eddie to trip up. Sadly I have grown to not be a fan of Eddie and have started to be swayed and want his guys to lose just for it to hurt him and matchroom.
I miss the days when that shite did not matter, I just liked fighters and teams/promoters/managers etc where not part of the seen picture to this level

The best thing that could happen to boxing is that promoters understand the risk in putting off the big Superfights the public wants to see. We all already knew this but the teams surrounding Joshua and Wilder apparentlt didn't.
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - 1 June 2019
They tried to give Whyte a limited time to prepare in April but he was insistent that he wanted Joshua testing for the full 12 weeks.
I wonder if Joshua has his overseas jaunts already booked in for the next couple of months?
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - 1 June 2019
Not seen the fight yet but I must say im shocked. The AJ train has terminated and now lets see what happens to all those titles. They will become fragmented once again and deffo one will be in the hands of Fury now.

IBF will strip Ruiz due to the rematch.
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - 1 June 2019
Guys the most lucrative heavyweight fights of the 90s were between Holyfield and Tyson who started with 4 defeats between them. This doesn't kill Joshua-Wilder.
If AJ dismantles Ruiz in the rematch it probably makes it bigger. More people in the US know who is than ever before, it's a bad defeat but it creates an opportunity.
Manny got sparked out by Marquez and never avenged it. Didn't stop the Floyd fight breaking all records.

He got beat by the better man on the night by the sounds of it. It happens. They all lose eventually.overhand_right wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 02:57 Do you think tonight this was him off the drugs?
Do you think peds can help him in a rematch? My feeling is the chin & psychology is too feeble but you seem to know your stuff.
It's easy to say he is on the gear, what about Ruiz? Or Wilder? Fury we know for certain is, which gets swept under the carpet for some reason.

I certainly wasn't expecting a Ruiz win
but Joshua def cant take punches
I always maintained AJ v Whyte 2 was a 50/50 fight...that's why dillian was avoided.
The scene certainly looks different this morning
but Fury remains the world champion
until he's beaten
any questions ?

Just seen the fight highlights and it was a poor showing from AJ. He didnt get going at all. Maybe fighting a shorter guy was one of the issues but he got beat by a better man on the night, which is surprising giving what Ruiz's conditioning is, but saying that Tony Tubbs was a fat boxer and he won a world title.
AJ doesnt have a solid chin and ive previously said that he wouldnt have been ranked top 10 20 years ago and is where he is simply due to the fact that its a poor division.
If there is a rematch clause AJ certainly has a chance to avenge his loss but Ruiz looks like he can bang and he might be the wrong opponent all round for AJ. I feel now though the titles will go all over the place and its going to be another 'anyone fights anyone'. Can Tyson Fury bring them all back together? Its going to be interesting now but I can see world title fights appearing that shouldnt even be worth while of a world title fight.
At least the AJ myth has now been broken and will be interesting to see how he makes a comeback.
One thing I bet Eddie Hearn isnt smiling this morning.

I wasn't certain about Joshua's chin but being wobbled by Whyte didn't mean a great deal because Whyte can punch.
However being knocked senseless by a fat slob who didn't even land clean means Joshua has a weak chin and nothing can repair that. The fear factor for Joshua's future opponents has gone.
Can you imagine what Wilder would do to him.
I feel sorry for Joshua, but not for Hearn. I love it when arrogance and greed leads to public humiliation.

Have you even watched the fight. He got caught Mr. Clean multiple times to his temple in the 3rd. Clean as a whistle. He never recovered.dalcumly wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 03:23 I wasn't certain about Joshua's chin but being wobbled by Whyte didn't mean a great deal because Whyte can punch.

Very weird night. Just watched it a few times. AJ had issues and was not himself besides Ruiz putting it on him. He was vacant in the corner and I’m not sure he even knew what Mcracken was telling him. Something was definitely off though. Spat his gum shield out before the final stoppage. Slow as shit in mind and body

He came into the ring dry and the preliminary bs took an eternity.Spiker wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 03:40 Very weird night. Just watched it a few times. Most importantly, he walked into savage temple shots in the 3rd that he never recovered from.
