Maybe. But probably he's right in some sense. AJ is proved to be hittable and not able to overcome advertsity. That's all Wilder needs to KO AJ. Now people will think more this way. Wilder will be put over Joshua without fighting him. And why not?

Nah

He's just lost out on a career high payday.

Undefeated AJ vs Wilder was a huge money fight. Exposed AJ vs Wilder, while still big, has definitelt lost 10s of millions.

It depends what motivates him.

He's just seen a load of $$$s flushed down the toilet, because the superfight of 2018/2019 did not happen when it should have.

All the marinate lovers must be gutted now and those of us who don't care for such shyte and want to see the best fights when they're hot will be even more gutted.

I had a feeling that something like this might happen to either Wilder or Joshua, because fighters sometimes take their eyes off the ball when they look past their opponents to so-called marinating superfights.

How many times does this have to happen before promoters, TV companies, fighters and their management teams learn?

The old adage, strike while the iron is hot rings true every time, but yet, they never buy it.

I made this thread before the fight about that and it's a pity that they stretched this greedy marination till this ending point.

I feel like an idiot by thinking Wilder vs Joshua would be a competitive big fight. Muscle man would never see round 2

Yep, only the AJ haters and Ruiz fans can be happy about this.

Fans of boxing are sure to be feeling a bit gutted. As for Wilder, once he's shown the maths he might feel angry sure, but definitely not good. A lot of his, and every other top heavyweights popularity depended upon Anthony Joshua.

They still all need Joshua and nothing has changed this. Tyson Fury for one, realised that instantly.

Good call. :TU:

In a perverse kind of way I'm glad it happened, because it might focus their minds in future, although I won't hold my breath.

It would be even funnier if Ruiz decided not to have the rematch and the titles became fragmented, as that would be the ultimate irony.

Or maybe Wilder might even forget about Ortiz now and fancy Ruiz for all the belts next.

Not impossible to arrange now.

I think quite the opposite. As sportsmen and prize fighters alike, I can't see how Wilder would be happy about this. Historically this actually diminishes the importance of the fight and the amount of money it will generate.

Yeah, it kind of solidifies Wilders claim to being the best HW in the world, but Wilder already believed that. A win or Loss by AJ wasn't going to change Wilders mind.

Yup. lol As Frank Lopez said: "Don't underestimate the other guy's greed.” :OhYes:

Ruiz would probably rematch AJ and make even more money since AJ still has that high profile and popularity. Ruiz won't make the same amount of money by fighting Wilder than rematching AJ. Also the chances for Ruiz to defeat again AJ in a rematch are bigger than to defeat Wilder. It's risk vs reward.

I think a Mexican heavyweight champion would be a massive draw in the likes of the cinqo de mayo weekend. Huge money to be made for Wilder in that fight.

The Joshua reputation in the states is over before it really got started.

Only IF AJ somehow rematch Ruiz in Vegas at T-Mobile Arena and he beats Ruiz to redeem himself. :That would be a great story! TU:

Lennox and especially Wlad K. had some nasty losses in their boxing careers but they recovered pretty well. :TU:

If he can bounce back with a win, it’s not the end of the world.

Many boxers lose there first fight early and still have successful careers.

Ruiz might just have AJ’s number.

There is absolutely no reason this should be the end of anything. I hate how much power unbeaten records have today, but AJ has got quite a bit of work to do to build himself back up. If he knocked out Ruiz in the first round in the rematch he’ll still have some digging to do.

He’s missed out on a payday potentially worth $30m.

And if Ruiz Jr. replicates this feat towards the end of the year, then Wilder would have missed-out on the biggest payday of his career, because AJ’s stock would have dropped and could never recover two back-to-back losses to the same man.
