Post by HomicideHenry »

Or do you still disbelieve and only see last night as some sort of fluke and that AJ is still the best heavyweight in the world?

He's good.... But I see him as a champion of circumstance, rather than as the best around. Joshua was tailor made for a quick handed guy. In a way you can say Ruiz is a poor man's version of Fury, except he's 6'0" instead of nearly 7'0".

After all can you honestly say you can see Ruiz beating either Wilder or Fury?

Joshua was certainly a champion of circumstance when he picked up the IBF and one could easily argue that so was Tyson Fury. Really Wilder and Ruiz are the ones who beat a ‘proper’ champion with no grey area background details.
Yes I could honestly say that I can imagine Ruiz beating Wilder or Fury, I can also easily believe he would lose to both and lose a Joshua rematch.

I think wilder can ko any heavyweight he tags cleanly so will always be dangerous. Ruiz has some fantastic attributes and could be a real nuisance.

It all depends which tyson fury shows up. If these guys ACTUALLY fight, we could have some fun nights ahead with a few surprises.

You would think so but then could he have hit Fury any harder in that final round?

The shot he dropped Dominic B with would stop anyone imo.

I actually think he may have missed his chance at ko'ing fury. Not sure he will find him in the rematch. But he'll always carry that threat.

I haven’t had to change my mind: Fury is still the best heavyweight.

Ruiz is certainly the most unlikely heavyweight champion I have seen in my lifetime though. I wonder where he goes from here.

I’ve always championed fury as no.1 on here and in the gyms and locally to me but been past off with people thinking I’m biased as him and his uncle peter are fiends of mine, yes fury is and always has been for a long time the best heavyweight in the world, I’ve been a fan of Ruiz for at least 6 yrs + he’s got imo the fastest hands, best combination puncher, mobility and fundamental boxing ability in heavyweight boxing and the best chin as yet again he’s showed last night, I’ve always thought the only thing that would let him down would be he’s not big enough against the big big elite heavyweights, but I was wrong about that, I think he falls just short against fury cuz of Tyson’s Movement, foot speed and size but other than that I would back him to beat Tyson, and imo he smashes wilder to bits, his brave as they come Ruiz and knows his fit, got a great chin and fast hands so will open up with you, again imo unlike any other heavyweight about at the minute knowing his shorter shots and fast combinations will get you

I've always said Fury is the number one heavyweight since he beat Klitschko.

He would stand Ruiz on his head and wilder would take his head clean off. Fury was the man before last night and now Wilder is clear second. Ruiz is not even the 3rd best in the division.

No. Fury is the lineal king. Ruiz has to take that away from him. Which he won't do.

Nobody cares about your trailer park straw poll.

Fury I think could beat Ruiz with his in and out style. I don't think he would KO him, but a points win is likely. Any come forward fighter like Whyte would suffer the same fate as AJ.

I’d say wilder picked up a belt without fighting a real champion where as fury beat an unbeaten in 11 years Klitschko. He then beat wilder, even if the official result was a draw. If you win every major domestic and european title then beat the dominant world champion for 3-5 world titles (depending on which ones you count) then draw with the WBC champion surely that makes you the only fighter who could be considered the heavy weight division number 1.

Would Ruiz beat Whyte and Povetkin? I’m not so sure, styles make fights. Joshua clearly couldn’t deal with the handspeed. Let’s not forget Parker beat Ruiz.

Very disappointed to see that Joshua just gives up when he’s taken into the trenches. Both wilder, fury and even Whyte have shown when the going gets tough they’ll dig deep and fight for everything they’ve got. I though Joshua had that mentality from the Klitschko fight but maybe spending all his time on private jets and doing commercials has made him soft.
