Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
Usyk might just be the best. Let’s face it, none of the top 3 are amazing and have all looked very poor at times. Usyk is on another level to them; the size difference might of course prove too much, but Ruiz has just shown how a small guy can give Joshua a world of trouble so it’s hardly unlikely that Usyk could school them all.
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
i thought fury beat wilder, but it was by string of a thread and i think wilder would win a rematch, its a bit muddled now

So we'll anoint Usyk now with not one fight at HW in the pros.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 14:50 Usyk might just be the best. The Wilder vs Ortiz rematch and how it goes will actually do a lot in telling us how Wilder can improve for his rematch with Fury. Now obviously Ortiz isn't Fury, and doesn't fight the same, but it will at least show us how Wilder does when faced with the same opponent a 2nd time, and if he's able to make adjustments.
I know we already had Stiverne, but Stiverne was clearly just showing up for a payday in that rematch. Ortiz will be showing up to do his best and win the title so it'll be different. He'll be older, but he'll still be a live guy in there for sure.
I wonder if Fury will try to get a 2nd fight in there after Schwarz before the Wilder rematch?

Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
Why do you think Wilder wins a rematch mate. For me Fury wins wide on the cards, it was his first meaningful fight in 4 years after dropping a shed load of weight. He's the one who's performance will improve. Wilder will come with the same game plan and hit thin air all night for my money
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
He's #2 P4P or #3 at worst. There's no doubt he's going to be somebody at Heavyweight dude. No doubt. He may not become a Heavyweight Champion, but he'll be a guy at least 1 of the big 3 is gonna have to face with almost no doubt. Because that's the level it's gonna take to beat him in the division.
The Cruiserweight division that Usyk dominated was the best Cruiserweight division that I've seen in my time as a fan. It was never deeper than it was when Usyk was on top, and Usyk cleaned out the division. If he's good enough to do that, he's good enough to make noise as a Heavyweight man.
Nobody is saying he's DEFINITELY gonna be the man, but it's basically impossible to imagine that he won't at the very least get some wins, and be a serious contender.
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
I don't disagree, but I'm getting tired of all the Usyk fans who are calling him out as the anointed one. I love the guy, one of my favs today. I would prefer to see him in the ring against a top 15 hw before I present him with the belts. That's all. Didn't we learn anything last night???gilgamesh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 14:58 He's #2 P4P or #3 at worst. There's no doubt he's going to be somebody at Heavyweight dude. No doubt. I don't get why you're getting so up in arms about people simply saying he's in the mix. That's all.oogiebe wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 15:01 I don't disagree, but I'm getting tired of all the Usyk fans who are calling him out as the anointed one. I love the guy, one of my favs today. He'd be "The anointed one" if everybody said "Oh yeah he'll beat Wilder and Fury sure as life", but nobody is saying that.
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
Yeah we need to see Usyk at heavyweight first.oogiebe wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 15:01 I don't disagree, but I'm getting tired of all the Usyk fans who are calling him out as the anointed one. Two questions need to be answered
One. Can he take a shot from the bigger boys?
Two. Does he hit hard enough. Sometimes I feel his fast arm punches are a bit showy as opposed to hard hitting.
If he can answer those questions then he has the skills and ability to be a serious contender.
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
Read my post more matter of fact, without emotion in it. I just think it's prudent (there's that word again) to wait and see how he does in the ring against a true HW. This thread wasn't too bad, but you know that other threads have him beating everyone (with exceptions for pre-ruiz AJ).
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
of course hes in the mix
of course hes not annointed or top dog or anything like thatt

Wow emotions are running high in here
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
Yup Second best CW I've ever seen. And maybe top 5-15 HW tomorrow. BUT...as you say, let's see how effective he is when he fights guys 25 - 35 LBS bigger. I wouldn't be surprised if he were successful at HW, but I wouldn't wager on it right now as a 100% certainty.ewenhay wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 15:05 Yeah we need to see Usyk at heavyweight first.

We can wait and see indeed, and as of this moment Usyk is not ranked at all on in my Heavyweight rankings because he's yet to fight in the division. But I have full confidence that he will be a contender in the division almost immediately.oogiebe wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 15:05 Read my post more matter of fact, without emotion in it. I think a good testing the waters opponent for him is a guy like Gerald Washington. Someone that has the size of the Super Heavyweights, but isn't seen as anywhere near their level. Just to get him used to those kinda matchups physically.
But there are definitely more talented guys to put him in there with. Takam wasn't a bad start. Solid, fringe contender type.

I can't wait to see him in there. What's the word on how that's going and when he can return anyway? Anybody heard? I'm sure he's already had the surgery. I'd think it'd take at least 5 or 6 months to fully heal, and get back to training full force and all that. Maybe I'm overdoing it. I'm not sure what the recovery time on something like that would be.
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
Last I heard it was September. Maybe we'll see him on Wilder/Ortiz undercard. Small tears take 2-3 months to fully heal. Learned that from baseball.gilgamesh wrote: ↑02 Jun 2019, 15:15 What's the word on how that's going and when he can return anyway? Anybody heard? I'm sure he's already had the surgery. Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
I think it's all down to psychology. Fury can improve physically, but he fought to the best of his ability and almost got stopped, so we don't know if that's playing on his mind, even if he returns in much better shape.
Equally, Wilder's lost a stone before his two biggest fights (Ortiz and Fury), casting doubts over his ability to perform under pressure. When the pressure's low and he comes in at 225 he smashes everyone. So maybe he'll be less nervous in the rematch, come in heavier, and stop Fury. Or maybe he'll be worried that he couldn't stop a less fit version of the man he meets at the weigh-in.
And where will Fury's mind be if Wilder comes in at 225... If they're both confident I think it's a coin flip, but I'd be surprised if anxiety doesn't play a part once again. Their lack of losses amplifies that, of course. Huge pressure for both, and it's not the fear of losing — it's the fear of humiliation. Usually is with boxing.
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
in a rematch, Fury has to be near perfect and Wilder only has to be perfect once.
Re: So.... Do You See Fury as the Best Now?
I had Fury as the best of the crop before the upset fight and I still do. I’d really like to see Ruiz-Fury more than any of the other permutations...
