AJ loss. Lewis v McCall or Lewis v Rahman?
AJ loss. Lewis v McCall or Lewis v Rahman?
Which is to say Joshua needs to go back to the drawing board and rebuild the way that Lewis did after McCall (possible new trainer, tuneups etc) or is this a get him back in the ring with Ruiz in 6 months setback type thing?
Re: AJ loss. Lewis v McCall or Lewis v Rahman?
i think the re-match clause and promoter will push him to the immediate rematch.
incidentally, lewis would have re-matched mccall straight away, but wasn't able to get the title back for a few years, due to being frozen out.
ajs problems look deeper. povetkin was getting to him pretty cleanly, but maybe age helped aj out that time.
v parker was a decent performance.
notably he struggled a little with the very short takam, though showed no signs of being hurt.
he may need a lot of practice as to how to box a short, fast man.
i dont know. he doesnt have a deep amateur background either, so he may only be able to do so much.
the chance to win all 3 belts back at once must be too great a temptation.
and without a manny stewart, what is he going to do anyway?

Lennox became a different, better fighter off his loss to the Atomic Bull.
And while he would have taken an immediate rematch at that time, there was a reason he fought guys like Butler and Fortune during the next 12 months.
Like AJ, he was 29 on his first loss, 6-7 years away from Olympic Gold, etc.
I agree that it seems as though a by the end of the year rematch seems most likely, but I question if that’d be the best thing for him.
Regardless of the outcome of the rematch

Neither is apt.

AJ is either going to rematch Ruiz right off or he’s going to have intermediary fights.
There’s no third option.
