Anna Woolhouse - Sky boxing presenter

Post by dalcumly »

I've just read an article in last weeks edition of Boxing News in which Miss Woolhouse describes how challenging her job has been since joining the Sky Sports Boxing Team.
She's not bad at what she does and I wish her good luck, and I'll be supportive of her position if all of the following steps have been taken.
Did she see an advert for a vacancy with Sky, apply with CV, interviewed with others and then perform well in her role.
Did a vacancy then arise within the Sky boxing team and was the post advertised. Did Miss Woolhouse apply, again submit her CV, was she interviewed with others and was she then offered the post after a successful performance.
If the answer to this is yes, great, well done, and all the best.
But what annoys me is this pressure to appoint females into posts on the grounds of equality, when in fact it's not equality , it's discrimination against equally competent men.
If she didn't go through this process then why was she chosen. I certainly would support female commentators/ presenters for female boxing, but why this need to appoint female presenters with no previous involvement in boxing.

Did Mark Pougatch apply for his job on C5 and beat out all comers? Paul Dempsey go through a rigorous 3 stage interview for the BT Sport gig? What about Andy Scott on Sky?

Or can production companies do what they want with their own money and employ the people they think are on board with their ideas and style of programming?

They should have gave the job to a black transvestite with disabilities.

Honestly this PC shït is a disgrace. The Martin Luther King speech contains the line that a person should be judged by the content of their character rather than the colour of their skin; a principle that seems to be lost in the modern political climate. Big media companies are employing people on the basis of serving an equality quota rather than who is best at the job. E4 even have a voice over guy with a fvcking speech impediment. He has 1 job and you can hardly make out a word the guy says.

Which equality quota are you referring to, specifically, with regard to Sky Sports Boxings presenter line up?

OK guys - I expected some of this !!

I accept the the comments about male presenters getting their jobs probably under similar circumstances - good point well made.

The comment about an obese 'lady' getting the job, was made half in jest, but it makes a valid point. If female presenters are getting jobs on TV because they're attractive to predominately male viewers, how patronising is that to the female presenters, but does it make it any less true?

As I said at the start, if she got the job fair and square, no problem. But its time the 30 million males in the UK started to rattle a few cages.

Well if they're equally competent, why not give it to a female candidate seeing as literally every other pundit, presenter and commentator is male?

To be honest she does well to hold the show together some nights when Johnny Nelson and Carl Froch are on.

This argument might hold some water if any of the men already employed by sky were remotely competent, have you ever actually watched a Sky boxing broadcast? Just about every single one of them is a fvcking imbecile.

Smith, Nelson, Froch, they're fvcking morons, you don't need to watch some bird presenting to work out that a strict hierarchy of abilities isn't really at work to find their presenting 'talent'

Instead of complaining about the one half-competent bird I'd focus your outrage on (for example) the supposed expert analysts who can't pronounce the names of boxers they are watching and have clearly never taken the time to research before the night they see hem in the flesh where they are supposed to give expert opinions

Or Adam Smith coming out with sh1te that Bellews nickname isn't a reference to the Manchester bombing ffs

I find the idiocy of the men far more offensive than any token bird, at least she actually does what she's supposed to do (look fit), Froch can't even manage that (doing what he's supposed to IE provide expert knowledge and insight)
