Ruiz vs Ruiz

Post by BoxBuzz »

First of all are they related? I don't think so.

I'm takin' Andy on this one....anyone think the Quiet man has a shot?

And while wer're at it, would Andy fair any better against the beast from the east than John?

One thing's for sure, Valuev was pretty tall......and if your tall, you maul. Right?

Or is it if your tall you fall? I can never remember for sure.

Not related. Quiet Man was Puerto Rican. Destroyer is Mexican. As for a H2H fight. That'd of been interesting. For me anyways.

John was a guy everybody looked at and said, "That guy fornicating sucks I'll beat him easily." He was deceptively better than you initially thought. He'd wrestle and maul you to tears, and outta nowhere he'd throw that sneaky overhand right and drop your ass.

Some guys would try to lay into him, and that failed. Rahman couldn't lay him out. Not Jameel McCline. Neither could Holyfield. Nor could Jimmy Thunder. Even when he was losing, Chagaev couldn't and neither could Kirk Johnson.

The Tua loss, in retrospect, is overblown. Let's face it. If Tua landed flush on anybody, I don't care who they were, you were gone. It's no disgrace. It happens.

Probably the most similar opponent to Andy Ruiz that John Ruiz ever fought arguably is Fres Oquendo. Not a big puncher, but fast hands, and tough in his own right. Maybe not the best guy in the world, but certainly underrated.

Quiet Man managed to stop him in the 11th round. It was a dull and ugly fight, typical of John, but he got the job done. Anyways, Destroyer I'd probably lean towards because he's a bit tougher than Oquendo and a harder puncher.

But I believe it goes all twelve rounds.

John could spoil this fight with his clinches and win a decision in an absolutely either way going hugging show. Just as it had always been.

Our forum just loves the "historical figures". The further back in time you are the better your chances with some of us.

I assume those who favor John figure he's going the hugging route, very ugly thought.

Would John have beaten Joshua? Could Andy beat the beast? both very tall orders.

I think this an interesting hypothetical....as both are under rated. Though John probably deserves to be.

..round three....joshua knocks ruiz down....joshua starts to wonder how he wear all those belts....ruiz not only gets up but puts joshua down twice......

the fight is over then..
joshua stays in for a few rounds so it wouldn't so bad and quits. period
