wilders win a couple of weeks back was probably on his mind and obviously he wanted to impress the American crowd with a ko,Ruiz just happened to be switched on though with the counters and that was that.jamamb wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 01:55 i agree, hed won the first 2 round unanimously and scored a big kd in the third. it was going okay for him, but the ruiz hurt him as he followed up and aj was never the same
i think aj can win rounds and hurt ruiz, but can he avoid getting tagged and hurt? ruiz to his credit showed the courage to punch with aj and not be shelled by the big firepower
i do think aj could not have been so eager and open in following up after the kd of ruiz. he went for it instead of being methodical

Thanks, Jim. I have no technical knowledge as such. Just a fan who has watched the sport for 35+ years.JimStone wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 02:55 Good, simple, accurate technical analysis. Pearls before swine these days, though. A lot of boxing 'trainers' nowadays only know how to get blokes fit and strong, technical knowledge is secondary., so how can we expect the image is everything general public or even self-proclaimed boxing fans to see how it was boxing skills and drills that proved Joshua's downfall.
Re: Strange goings on
Im gonna put somethin out there,I just watched the full fight for the first time and I think it was fixed,Joshua's body language during the fight and after the fight smiling and taking pictures with the ruiz team just makes me think something dodgy was going on. The last knockdown he didnt really get hit,he says somethin to ruiz at the end of round 6 or beginning of round 7,then the interview at the end when ruiz is talking he butts in and says big round of applause blah blah then we will be seeing you again. I just think there is something under handed,I may be wrong but thats what I think.

I disagree, Ruiz throw more shots and combos in round one. I gave AJ round two (just)jamamb wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 01:55 i agree, hed won the first 2 round unanimously and scored a big kd in the third. it was going okay for him, but the ruiz hurt him as he followed up and aj was never the same

Yeah earn £20mil a fight after sponsorship etc. and potentially set up a $50mil earner vs Wilder if you win but throw the fight or some bets? Yeah makes sensethechump wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 07:37 Im gonna put somethin out there,I just watched the full fight for the first time and I think it was fixed,Joshua's body language during the fight and after the fight smiling and taking pictures with the ruiz team just makes me think something dodgy was going on. Re: Strange goings on
Just his whole body language before, during and after the fight,in wembley against klitschko he didnt show any nerves in front of 90,000 people against the best heavyweight of the past 10+ years but in this fight he is leaning against the ropes with his gumshield hanging out his mouth before he got introduced,im not saying he didnt get clipped the first knockdown but the rest he goes down on his own accord. Then the last "knockdown" his head is clear his eyes are clear and diesnt protest the stoppage. Think about it we are no were near the wilder fight happening now than we were 2 years ago so i dont take into account the wilder fight on the horizon after beating Ruiz. Maybe the mexican cartel got to him and offered him a bung? Peiple say "why would he do that,he is a millionaire already?" If the mexicsn cartel got to him or new york mafia he would probably get more money than he potentially lost against his next opponent. Boxing is as dirty now as it ever benn i reckon. Could be wrong but i just thought it was a strange fight and AJ didnt act or look his usual self,he says he didnt have a panic attack and he didnt get knocked out in sparring so what else is there? He would of got hit harder by klitschko, whyte and povetkin. This guy is an Olympic gold medalist he was a world champion holding 3 major belts,he is world class, been in gyms all around the world watchin and learning but still throws sloppy jabs all fight, jabs to the body, straight rights to the body? Cmon something wasnt right and the only conclussion is someone got to him other than Ruiz.
Re: Strange goings on
He was offered 50mill a last year and turned it down so what makes you think he would get the fight after beating ruiz? Wilder has ortiz and fury already booked in so Joshua is left on the shelf by wilder and his team so AJ has to make either wilder think it will be an easy fight or keep his schedule booked without the boxing public saying he is fighting nobody's. Ruiz was 22/1 just to stop AJ so put 2 mill on thsi and he is 44mill better off, better than getting smacked in the fight by wilder isnt it for 6mill more?danconnollyeire wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 07:53 Yeah earn £20mil a fight after sponsorship etc. and potentially set up a $50mil earner vs Wilder if you win but throw the fight or some bets? I’m sure if someone bet millions on Ruiz winning by knockout the authorities would be involved as too suspicious. Dodgy betting does go on but I doubt people can safely bet huge sums without it drawing attention

Let’s be honest, we all knew that if Wlad had been more aggressive he would have stopped Joshua who was hurt & gassed through most of the middle of their fight.
Re: Strange goings on
Yup. And Joshua has definitely fought more tentative since that fight.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 11:31 Let’s be honest, we all knew that if Wlad had been more aggressive he would have stopped Joshua who was hurt & gassed through most of the middle of their fight.
He is still more aggressive than most heavies but he's not as aggressive as he was pre-Wlad. He's also hopeless at hiding any sort of distress – tired, hurt, uncomfortable it is plain to see with him and probably quite easy for an opponent to exploit.

Re: Strange goings on
This. AJ has flaws we all knew about before that he's overcome. That said the temple shot left hook pretty much ended the fight.Controversial wrote: ↑06 Jun 2019, 01:47 I’m more coming around to the idea that AJ wasn’t the same after the first knockdown, that punch just scrambled his brain and I don’t think he ever recovered..
