i think wilder would win a rematch, but the one thing you can argue about fury is that he was still getting back in shape then and that it was only late that he really had issues, its feasible he could be in better condition and tighter defensively late this time

I think Fury hurt Wilder a few times. There's no reason a fitter Fury can't stop him.

i agree he did sting him at times, though never seriously hurt. wilder is the type who gets buzzed quite a bit but stays up and recovers it seems

Fury can't stop Wilder. and if he tries, it means he opens himself up to the big right. Never happen.

You have to prove you're number by beating the best. While AJ and Wilder have been going about gunning down the contenders, Fury was sat on the side lines for 3 years just saying they both poop. It was a good draw Fury came away with against Wilder but now he's gone back to fighting cack again.

Like it or hate it, but if Fury was to officially beat a world champion and then a rival champion or a string of contenders, he'd be in the running for being called the best. The reality is he's boxed 2 top boxers in 3 1/2 years. Not good enough. He doesn't walk the walk that he talks !

Had Fury a clear favourite since he beat Wilder, thought AJ would be too much for Wilder but that’s changed now, could see probably half a dozen guys beating AJ now including Whyte, it wasn’t a one in a million punch, he got outboxed and battered. Watched it several times now.

for me, its true that ruiz got the better of aj in most rounds. in that sense it wasnt some out of the blue, one and done lucky haymaker. but i also tend to think aj never recovered from that third round, hence that for the rest of the fight ruiz getting the better of things doesnt necessarily show that he is in general just the better boxer

if aj can be more measured this time and avoid getting seriously hurt, i doubt ruiz wins all those rounds like that. easier said then done though. rematch is very exciting

I've always had Fury as number one.

He'd beat Ruiz comfortably. No disrespect to Ruiz, but Fury lacks any of the flaws that he exploited against Joshua.

He's got stamina, he's got a tight defence (although, admittedly, can get careless),, he's got a good chin, he's not a one note fighter and if he gets knocked down he recovers well and doesn't quit.

If Fury got dropped the way Joshua did, no way would he be spitting his mouthguard out, slouching in the ropes and looking back at his corner.

Very disappointed to see that Joshua just gives up when he’s taken into the trenches. Both wilder, fury and even Whyte have shown when the going gets tough they’ll dig deep and fight for everything they’ve got. I though Joshua had that mentality from the Klitschko fight but maybe spending all his time on private jets and doing commercials has made him soft.
Let’s not forget Parker beat Ruiz. Parker was the WBO champ. Parker fought Ruiz on his home turf and won on a split decision. Probably a draw, but you have to take the title from a champion and Ruiz didn't do that.

Ruiz is much better since having Manny Robles in his corner. He's going to get even better. Was he training himself when he faced Parker, or was it Abel Sanchez?

Title was vacant. Helped Parker that he has a solid chin, because Ruiz landed some whoppers on him. Don't know what can be done about AJ's chin.

Fury would be in and out scoring points. If Ruiz could catch him coming in, the fight could be all over. He certainly wouldn't give Fury a chance to recover if he did nail him. Fury is good at fighting big upright men that chase after him. Ruiz wouldn't do that he would wait for Fury to throw a big punch and then land his own.
No I don't see Fury as the best, although he is very good. He will be beaten soon and retire afterwards. If he fights Wilder again, Wilder will finish him off this time. Fury was on his back and any decent ref would have stopped the bout there and then. Wilder was robbed of the win. The ref even helped Fury to recover before saying box on. That was Furys second loss, he was beaten by big John McD in their first fight but given the decision.

I lean towards Wilder, but the ref was near perfect in the fight. I had Fury ahead by one or two points at the end. Could've easily scored it a draw.

not until he is able to tko a top ranked fighter .
wilder
Ruiz
AJ
Whyte
Ortiz

maybe your Joyces / Dubois etc
even Brazeeel

All this slipping around and nicking rounds is fine but at HW its as much about power and clean knockouts .

Fury has nothing power-wise to bother The Fat King of Boxing. 0.

TFKoB would chop him down like a tree. He might not even need to land to the head.

Eh? So if Fury beat them all on points, he still wouldn’t be the best because he didn’t stop any of them? :maybe:

LOL! I agree, all one has to do is beat the rest. KO's are exciting, but wins are more important (ask AJ).

Nah. He's probably number two behind wilder, who has a slightly better resume. Joshua was top but clearly drops down the pecking order until he revenges ruiz and looks good doing so (don't think he will like).

Still only has the one world class win. He would beat ruiz easy i would say. He'd be able to box him at range.

All that said, i wouldnt confidently pick any active heavyweight to beat him. He just needs to prove it. Wilder can maybe ko him in rematch, just as fury could outpoint him. Draw in the first fight seemed fair to me.

Wilder would massacre Ruiz. Deontay is the best now.

That fight was terrible with the exception of the last Rd. Fury fought well but landing 4 or 5 jabs a Rd isn't schooling anyone.
