Hi guys,
just seeing if anyone is able to give me a little bit of info on turning professional. i have had over 75 amateur fights(lost 2) and want to test myself at the next level. i have financial backing but a little unsure as to rules and regulations.
also i have little experience with managers and promoters and don't want to get shafted.
any info would be great guys.

I'd talk to boxers if I were you - they don't stand to make a single cent and therefore can be trusted in answering all your questions about what goes on.
Of managers, I see this guy runs from Perth:

That's a nice stable right there. Would be worth checking out.

75 amateur bouts really isn't a lot. Most boxers now who have done well and have participated internationally have closer to 100. I don't keep individual records (that would be impossible), but I can tell you if a boxer has had national (U.S.) or international (dual meets, Olympics, Pan Ams, World Championshups) experience and how they did.

Most the top UK international boxers have no more than 80 bouts, and most only win 75% of there bouts, so a 75-2 is a fantastic record, some UK boxers have had no more than 60 bouts and still have Gold medals from major international events like Commonwealth games.boxmel wrote:75 amateur bouts really isn't a lot. So someone with that record (75-2) surly must be a top international or there is something seriously wrong!

Hi - as all are saying good record 75-2, who are you fighting for - Global, League or Association?
If this fighter is fighting League or Global he may well have had 77 fights with no international experience.
Another point is that if he is not fighting Association he probably not fightin the top level guys in Australia.
We have a stupid system of Ameteur boxing in Australia that often prevents the best fighters from representing the country - politics

Considering that the U.S. alone has over 20,000 registered boxers, let alone the rest of the world, it would be an impossible task to get every amateur boxers record. The mere thought gives me a huge headache.I WISH THEY HAD AN BOX FOR AMATUERS, AND BOXREC WOULD GET IN TOUCH OR SOMETHING TO FIND OUT THE RECORDS OF FIGHTERS OR THE FIGHTERS WOULD HAVE TO FAX BOXREC A COPY OF THE PASSBOOK.
