Heavyweights Drying Out
Heavyweights Drying Out
Ken Norton mentioned during the Thrilla in Manila that Ali and Frazier weighed in 5 days before the bout, before they had a chance to dry out. He said they were actually lighted than their announced weights. Why would heavyweights dry out ? Was that common for heavys ?
Re: Heavyweights Drying Out
From a practical point of view, it would be absolutely pointless for a heavyweight to dry out.
It's probably one of those dogma things where, because fighters in all the other divisions almost always had to dry out, so it was just assumed that drying out was the thing to do before fights.
