Terry O' Connor
Does anyone have a photo of Terry in his boxing days ?
There are plenty of him refereeing.

Re: Terry O' Connor
Is that Terry "refereeing" the Kovalev Cleverley fight?
Re: Terry O' Connor
No he helped Cleveley far more than that!
Can anyone else think of an occasion when a ref picked a fighter up and helped him back to the corner?

There was a 4 page thread on the CS.

Maybe not helping to the corner, but other similar incidents.

Re: Terry O' Connor
Yep - me too
AT LEAST two laughs
Re: Terry O' Connor
That, my friend, is superb.
Re: Terry O' Connor
I saw him 'live' on several occasions. He was never impressive here - boxed well overseas.

Re: Terry O' Connor
Terrible Terry has been in some shockers but he reffed my debut so I have a weird little bit of affection for him and another a few years ago which was a knockout anyway.
I know time can do a great many things but it’s difficult cult to believe that he ever boxed when you look at him or speak to him now.

Re: Terry O' Connor
Never forget the first Fury / Mc Dermott fight.
He is the sole reason for British title eliminators and English title fights having three judges.

Re: Terry O' Connor
Yep. Absolutely shocking decision.
And apparently McDermott’s dad, who was his trainer and cornered him that night, had beaten O’Connor as a pro years before. Surely a risk of conflict of interests...

This wouldn't have been a thread you started?Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑08 Jun 2019, 11:13 There was a 4 page thread on the CS.

Re: Terry O' Connor
Only worse hometown refereeing I can remember is in the Liam Krasniqui v Lamon Brewster fight.
Krasniqui gets knocked down, the ref reaches the count of 8. Krasniqui still on one knee and the ref stops counting and holds his arms out as if to say ok get up. About 5 seconds later Krasniqui stumbles to his feet and gets waved on.
As it is the ref probably ended up giving Krasniqui brain damage as Brewster absolutely sparked him violently out shortly after and Krasniqui as I remember it never had another decent win ever again

That is the funniest thing I have seen on here
Re: Terry O' Connor
Tyson Fury can say he's never lost all he wants. Anyone who've seen Fury vs Mcdermott 1 know that Mcdermott won that fight by a country mile. Terry saved Tyson's "0" that day.
Terry O' Connor was a terrible ref and judge. He's packed in reffing now by he's still judging....

Re: Terry O' Connor
Even the commentators lost it when O Connor awarded it to Fury. That is how bad of a decision it was. The board should have got rid of O' Connor for it.Exoddus wrote: ↑09 Jun 2019, 20:27 Tyson Fury can say he's never lost all he wants. Re: Terry O' Connor
call me a dosser but i thought it was actually a close fight. the 98-92 was straight up some predetermined sh!t or something though, big john i thought won at least 4 rounds clearly
a few ppl suggested terry had it in with mcdermott becasue johns dad knocked him out back in the day....maybe

Re: Terry O' Connor
The McDermott fight, also the Cunningham one did Fury a lot of favours. Those are the fights he really learned in, also in learning to prepare properly.

Re: Terry O' Connor
I cant believe in this country we still have refs scoring fights at any level, surely if they(BBBC) only want one person scoring then why not have a sole judge outside the ring? Or even better just have 3 scoring judges like everywhere else
And while I'm at it the Technical Draw rule in Britain for an accidental foul within 4 rounds is pish as well, should be a No Contest

Re: Terry O' Connor
You'd have thought that someone would figure out that it's pretty difficult to score a fight let alone score a fight and ref it at the same time.handsofstone wrote: ↑10 Jun 2019, 17:22 I cant believe in this country we still have refs scoring fights at any level, surely if they(BBBC) only want one person scoring then why not have a sole judge outside the ring?
