Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
Few weeks ago Yarde v Kovalev was rumored.
Promoter FW said on camera recently it's signed a done deal.
Unless I'm mistaken we have heard this before and it sounds like a wild goose chase doesn't it ?

Pretty sure Yarde won’t go to Russia regardless of the payday.

He has allegedly signed the contract but I heard last week they were attempting to bring it back to the UK. Who knows but I hope the fight gets made.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Jun 2019, 08:07 Yarde had already signed the contract and agreed to compete in Russia, but Team Krusher failed to deal with the Visa invitational paperwork.

The use of the word “allegedly” is inappropriate in the context of something that has already been confirmed the Team Yarde, Team Kovalev and the WBO.
Re: Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
I haven’t read anywhere that team Kovalev and WBO have confirmed that he’s signed? Besides, if it’s now going to a purse bid surely the contracts aren’t signed.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Jun 2019, 10:00 The use of the word “allegedly” is inappropriate in the context of something that has already been confirmed the Team Yarde, Team Kovalev and the WBO.

Re: Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
The initial purse bid was avoided because Team Kovalev and Team Yarde agreed a deal to stage the bout on the 29th June, with the Brit accepting a seven-figure sum to travel overseas for the fight. Kathy Duva notified the WBO to call off the purse bid, as a deal had been reached.Loki wrote: ↑09 Jun 2019, 10:24 I haven’t read anywhere that team Kovalev and WBO have confirmed that he’s signed? Yarde had definitely already signed the contract and agreed to compete in Russia, but Team Krusher failed to deal with the Visa invitational paperwork.
Apparently the Russian investors providing funding to bring Kovalev-Yarde to Kovalev’s home country preferred to stage the fight sometime in August instead of the 29th June.
The WBO ordered an emergency purse bid hearing to resolve the situation, which will take place on the 11th June.
Please do your research and don't use the word "allegedly" about something that is categorically true or dishonestly claim that Yarde was unwilling to face Kovalev in Russia, since your allegation is clearly incorrect.
Re: Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
I haven’t seen any evidence to suggest Team Kovalev or the WBO knew that Yarde signed. Where is it apart from FW, whose hardly reliable - that is where you’re getting this information which is normally crap.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Jun 2019, 10:35 The initial purse bid was avoided because Team Kovalev and Team Yarde agreed a deal to stage the bout on the 29th June, with the Brit accepting a seven-figure sum to travel overseas for the fight. I’ll bet that the fight doesn’t happen. Either WBO strip Kovalev but no way in hell does the fight happen in Russia. Pity, as Kovalev is getting older.

Re: Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
Are you saying that because you didn’t even know about Yarde agreeing to face Sergey Kovalev in Russia on the 29th June, coupled with the fact you’ve not bothered to check whether Bob Arum or Kathy Duva has verified this, that my words cannot be true?
You’re arguing about a subject matter that you’ve clearly made no attempt whatsoever to research.
Please telling me that what I’ve written is untrue.
Re: Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
Regardless, Kovalev KO's Yarde inside of 2-3 rds. (Even though Kovalev is on the tail end/downslide of his career and skills). Yarde is basically a novice, Kovalev would melt him with a jab. Yarde's people would NEVER take this fight unless it's just a "cash out"/"cash grab". Clubber Lang is a more suitable opponent for Yarde.... that's a pick 'em.

I can’t disagree about Yarde having never faced any top-ten domestic level British opposition, let alone European or world-rated opponents’. He deserves to be considered a huge underdog against Krusher.PUGLET wrote: ↑10 Jun 2019, 02:20 Regardless, Kovalev KO's Yarde inside of 2-3 rds. However regardless, the Brit definitely agreed and also signed a contract to face Sergey Kovalev in Russia on the 29th June, with the event being postponed and the WBO calling for an emergency purse bid process that is scheduled for tomorrow.

I read that the purse bid is delayed until later this month.

Re: Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
You do realise that you’ve actually posted an article confirming everything I previously told you, which you disagreed with?
Anyway, that’s besides the point.
The main concern relates to the situation itself! What on earth is happening between the WBO, Team Krusher and Team Yarde? It’s become a farce!
Re: Yarde v Kovalev ... Is it off ?
Loki: 1, The not so Enlightened One: 0. It was FW that suspended the purse bid and I didn’t believe him or Yarde’s ambition to take this fight.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑11 Jun 2019, 13:32 You do realise that you’ve actually posted an article confirming everything I previously told you, which you disagreed with?![]()

I do agree with you, the LHW div is packed with great fights to be made but they are ruining the opportunity as someone will lose and the fights become less attractive.

Your article states that Kathy Duva had previously cancelled the WBO’s purse bid, because Yarde had accepted the deal.Loki wrote: ↑11 Jun 2019, 14:14 Loki: 1, The not so Enlightened One: 0. It was FW that suspended the purse bid and I didn’t believe him or Yarde’s ambition to take this fight.

Please read your own article.
In terms of your second sentence, I agree with everything you wrote. I’m glad we’re able to find common ground.

Let’s agree to disagree. I just hope the top 8 LHWs fight each other soon.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑11 Jun 2019, 14:25 Your article states that Kathy Duva had previously cancelled the WBO’s purse bid, because Yarde had accepted the deal.

Sounds like they're trying to pick a date and venue that will make everyone happy.
Re: Yarde v Kovalev Agree to Terms
Yarde and Kovalev agreed to terms for a fight in September in Russia.
