Emmanuel Steward could have definitely made Joshua a great fighter like he did big men Lennox Lewis and Wlad Klitschko , maybe not too late to get Stewards nephew Sugar Hill or Wlad Klitschko to show him how to fight tall. clinch work behind jab etc.

Johnathon Banks is the international trainer of the Kronk gym. If you want a successor of Manny Steward who will travel to England to train, then it would be him.

maybe, im not sure that anyone could replace emmanuel. he seemed to have a special talent for it. and strength of personality, reputation.
vlad is too high profile to do it. its not rocky 3!

thinking about it, what about lennox. high profile too, but pretty chilled out. on second thoughts i dont think hed be up for it either.

AJ has already said that he has no intention of replacing Rob McCracken or any members of his training team. For sure, the situation might change next year (depending on the outcome of the Ruiz Jr. rematch), but until then, there's no point in speculating.

Pernell Whitaker and Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. have trained people. It turns out that not every great boxer will be a great trainer. I'd rather have a good boxer who is well experienced and successful as a trainer (and studied under an elite trainer, like Freddie Roach assisting Eddie Futch) than an elite fighter who is totally new to coaching. In the entire history of boxing, there have been close to 0 elite trainers who were also elite fighters in their previous career. Buddy McGirt (mediocre trainer) is the best boxer I can think of to ever become a halfway okay trainer. Elite trainers like Roger Mayweather and Freddie Roach were decent, but nothing special as boxers.

This is why I suggested Johnathon Banks. He has been Wlad's trainer for several years, he studied under Manny Steward as an assistant trainer, he was coached by Manny Steward I think, he sparred with Wlad, and he was a contender in two divisions. I think you'd have more success with someone like that than an elite fighter with no coaching experience.

Wlad has all the smarts and the fighting experience to start training big-tall fighters. Wlad fought very cagey vs a very dangerous in his prime Povetkin and David Haye. :box:

I’ve said Wlad in the past. I think he’s got what it takes to turn AJ around similar to how Manny turned him. I’m pretty sure they will be having private discussions. Wlad is that kind of guy ain’t he. And AJ is respectful, I think he’d listen.

Saying all of that, Wlad is probably 1 week into his comeback camp now 😆

AJ is a different fighter and body than Wlad. The same tactics won't work the same with him. AJ has to learn to be more of a boxer/puncher and his corner needs to better understand tactics and strategies for EACH of his opponents. Booth would be my pick IF AJ decides to clean house, which he has stated is not the case.

I agree. He is nothing like Lewis or Klitschko and that style would be ineffective for him

Banks. Is. Garbage.
AJ needs a real teacher. To teach him THE BASICS.... Coach Al Mitchell, he'll put AJ in his place and make him do right.

I doubt that AJ is in a place where he would abide a Mitchell.

Watching DAZN interview with Hearn. I sincerely do not understand why so many people have so much trouble with Hearn. It seems that he has been reading BoxRec.

I was only sort of "half-kidding" about Coach Al... my point was that AJ needs to learn the basics. Coach Mitchell is as "old-school" as it gets, you either survive and learn how to fight, or you drown. I was one of the USOEC Bad Boys in Marquette for a couple of years. Lots of "bad mama jamas" up there in the early 90's. Stone-cold killers.

I'm not sure what any trainer could do for him against Ruiz. Suddenly he looked frail. Ruiz bulled right through him.

What about Lennox Lewis as his trainer. That style suits him perfectly.

I'd have thought George was better versed in the art of bludgeoning someone into oblivion than the nuances and subtleties of boxing technique. I know he was more that just a wrecking ball but I'd rather be coached by someone more associated with finesse.

AJ obviously feels great loyalty, but maybe McCracken might suggest to him that he might benefit from someone doing things differently, and generally freshening things up. Of course there's the question of ego and public perception that might make that a lot to ask of any long-term trainer.

And why should multi-millioner businessman Wladimir Klitchko waste his time on training??? :brick:
